Recommended Posts

my kids grandparents one is Nanny and Pa. and the other is Pop.

I use to call my grandparents Da. granddad. and both were nanny's or nana.

What a wonderful blessing grandparents and great grandparents I had the privelledge of knowing mine.

Our granddaughters call us 'grandmar' (yes, including the r ) and 'grandad Chris'. This differentiates us from their other grandparents.

Our grandson (who we do not see and have not done for some years because of separations and problems) called us 'grandma and grandad from London'.

My grandkids all call me "Grandma" except my oldest. He calls me "Grandmama." And my husband is "Grandpa Bob" as he is not their natural grandparent.

I called my grandmothers "Nanny" and "Nana" and grandfathers "Bopbop" and "Grandpa." Oh, how I miss them all!

I used to call my grandmother on my mothers side Nana and Grandma for the one on my fathers side. My grandfathers died when i was a baby so didnt call them anything lol.

I dont have any grandchildren yet but when i do i hope to be Nana.

The only place you can find perfection , is in the dictionary.

I grew up when your grandparents were "grandma" and "grandpa"

My parents are grandma and grandpa to my kids.

My husband's parents though wanted to be called "nonnie" and "papa".

Personally, I like the good ole fashioned grandma and grandpa, I don't get "nonnie" or "nana" etc. That's just me though.

I have one gr8grandaughter, Lacie that calls me Granny but the others call me grandma. At one time Lacie's paternal grandmother for some reason made the statement "what am I, chopped liver"? Ever since they have been Pop & Chop! Lacie was around 3yrs & thought that that was her name!:lol1:

I'm just about to become a grandparent...I think I have been labled as Nanny... which for some reason reminds me of a old Goat :lol2:

I had a lot of grandparents growing up, they were Oma and Paba, Grandma Keltz, Grantpa Keltz (my great grandparents on my moms side), then my fathers side was just Grandpa Howie, Grandma, Great-Grandma and Grandpa Carl. I had 2 sets of great grandparents growing up.

My children call my parents Mimi (pronounced Me-Me) and Papi. They call my husbands parents MawMaw and PawPaw (which I hate, it sounds so country!!!).

To Sister Luana

I only though it was Sheldon in Big bang theory who called his gran me maw!

That is the first person I thought of too haha:D

My kids call my husband's mother Granny

they then call my parents "Yiayia" which is grandma in Greek and "Papou" which is grandpa in Greek

they then call my grandparents, their great-granparents "Maezinga" which is Portuguese for "mummy" and "Voovoo" which is Grandpa in Portuguese.

Now the reason they call my grandmother "mummy" is because that name has stuck since I was a baby, when I heard my own mother refer to her as "Maezinga" I thought that what I was supposed to call her and it stuck! When I got a little older and realised that name didn't mean Grandma at all I tried to call her that instead, which is "Avo" in Portuguese but she wouldn't have it, said it made her sound old:lol1: My "Mummy" is now 73 years old and still prefers being called that!

My German grandparents are both gone now, but we called him Opa and my grandmother was Oma...it's a 'German' thing..quite common there.

Like you I am also German, my name started out as Oma, then went Omee, then went to Mimi. So I am Mimi and Lew is Papa Lew. I like this much better because I've never thought of myself as a "grand mother". I mean never. And I feel like I don't fit the "profile". But gotta say, this grand girl is awesome, and likes to learn.

My parents were called Nonna (Naw-Nuh) which is Italian for 'old lady' or grandmother and dad was Gramps.

I was 40 when I became a grandmother. I had no idea what I wanted to be called. I looked through the Insight books at every name in there and saw one name of a false god that people use all the time for a grandmother. I had no clue, but I definitely did not want that as my 'name.' So I chose "Gram." My hubby is "Pop." Just recently my youngest grandson has begun calling me "Grammy." He laughs each time he says it. :crush:
