Let us know how you are feeling at this moment : Get it off your chest

Recommended Posts

I feeling quite reckless at the moment after having an earnest conversation with Br. Wesley. See it in the private sub forum. I didn't feel right hijacking Sister Hannah's topic and decided to thrash out our inadequacies in VERY own topic of discussion.

Those sisters in my non English congregation love to ask me the question 'how are you?'. I get really annoyed. They never text me for months on end and they just have no time to chat with me. I don't blame them.

I only showed up in the hall when I have a student talk. I do text a few Indonesian sisters on Whatsapp and share answers for the meeting but most of the time, I'm out trying to get my dopamine fix with people I meet in public places.

Haven't had lunch yet. 4.27 pm

To do list : Do not ask 'how are you?' instead ask 'what are your feelings at this moment'. Need to suss out the article. Will do later, after I get my food and a dose of 'feel good' hormones

I found this article that is quite similar to the one that I was looking for. Will keep looking after the weekend.

https://www.cnbc.com/2019/03/07/stop-asking-how-are-you-harvard-researchers-say-this-is-how-successful-people-make-small-talk.html

“How are you?” These are the 3 most useless words in the world of communication. The person asking doesn’t really want to know, and the person responding doesn’t tell the truth. What follows is a lost opportunity and meaningless exchange with zero connection.

1. Use the A.C.T. trick to start a connection

A - There’s authenticity

C - There’s a connection

T - There’s a topic that will give them taste of who you are

Some of those questions might be:

“What’s your current state of mind?”

“What are you looking forward to this week?”

Here are 7 tactics to having a meaningful conversation:

Spoiler

3. Be in the moment and observe your surroundings

Open your eyes be4 you open your mouth. Find something to focus on in your surroundings, like the piece of art on the wall, a quirky gadget or family picture on their desk, a race car helmet, scattered coins from various countries and so on. There’s bound to be something that will spark small talk and help lead the conversation into unique follow-up questions.

I can imagine how much all of you enjoyed the morning walk. I am so excited that your morning routine yesterday went so smashingly well. Everyone must have enjoyed themselves especially the ladies.

I had 1 lady in my last employ : she was so popular. Why? She was a great listener. I think I will carry a note book around and record all the things my female friends talk about. I'm not good at talking that is why I don't join Br. Lynn's zoom session. A bit of a wall flower.

I remember when I went to Indonesia (Pekan Baru) and the brothers took me to visit a brother (in a hospital) who had been a victim of a road rage car accident. I was busy scribbling notes about what transpired during the brutal attack. The Indonesians were tickled pink because I was like a reporter reporting for a newspaper.

I'm not terribly good at foreign languages so I tend not to speak much when I go overseas.

What’s something you’re looking forward to this year?

This question invites people to share their hopes and plans, providing a glimpse into their passions and interests. It’s a great way to shift the dialogue towards positive and exciting topics.

For example, someone might mention an upcoming vacation they’ve been planning for months. This can lead to an engaging discussion about travel destinations, dream vacations, and travel tips. Sharing stories and advice builds connections and makes the conversation more memorable.

I'll have my cup with honey. I'm also diabetic but since I drastically reduced my rice (and other carbohydrates) intake, the Dr at the teaching hospital said I don't have to take my Metformin. Still I would definitely watch my intake of sugar. When I am offered a drink, I dilute it with water or ice. Then I won't feel so guilty and beat myself up for being (?indisciplined/indiscipline).

https://www.webmd.com/diabetes/inflammation-and-diabetes

Recent research suggests that inflammation inside the body plays a role in the development of type 2 diabetes.

The good news: An "anti-inflammatory" diet and exercise plan can help prevent and treat type 2 diabetes.

The effects of inflammation are familiar to anyone who has experienced a bug bite, rash, skin infection, or ankle sprain. In those situations, you will see swelling in the affected area.

With type 2 diabetes, inflammation is internal.

Avacadoes (my fav), extra virgin olive oil, turmeric (synergistic with peppercorns) organic vegetables, wild caught salmon, grass fed beef, all types of berries, healthy nuts, dark green vegetable (better to switch to a vegan/vegetarian diet)

Avoid : highly processed food, tranfat, fried food

Dear Sister Daydream, I wrote a somewhat lengthy response, but it got accidentally deleted. Nevertheless, I feel relieved to have gotten it "off my chest" and am hoping to attend the Watchtower meeting tomorrow with a seriously disabled Bible Student. Hope all are feeling well at this moment. Thanks for starting this thread. Warm Christian compassion, ys, pauline Kejedo.

No idea what my a1c is but.i know my sugar is 250.s after 8 plus hours fasting. I will not take metformin. Apparently it redyces your muscle mass which curiously makes diabetes worse.... Scratches head.

I think drinking non sugar fluids is best to get rid of sugar hanging in your blood.

Who came up with this notion 100 and over is bad?  Kind of like the notion heavier then others body type is bad.  Curiously my fix to that if you feel like you need to is fluids... Hot soup...water water wster....detoxing tea.... Super charge with pineapple several times a day.  I lost 80 pounds in 6 months doing this.
