Just diagnosed with diabetes; how do I reverse my condition.

  • 2 weeks later...

Let’s just state the facts here…. You may be able to ‘reverse’ pre diabetes but you certainly will not reverse long term diabetes

You can get it under control but that’s as far as it goes, it’s like saying I have reversed my alcoholism… no, once a alcoholic then always one, you get things under control and you continue to live a healthy lifestyle.

The only way you can stop diabetes is by finding out early that you are pre diabetic… so you start to see highs in your glucose levels, act firmly then and you may chase it away for a few more years.

You can't walk with God while holding hands with the Devil.

DR. BERG’S HEALTHY KETOSIS™ ACCEPTABLE FOODS LIST

PROTEIN

Bacon,  Beef jerky,  Cheese, Hot dogs, Salami, Sausage

This list is grossly out of date. I don't think a diabetic person would eat these highly processed food. Certainly a person with this condition would not eat highly inflammatory food and would instead focus on a diet that promotes anti-inflammatory benefits.

Medical codes have recently been updated to indicate that people can put Diabetes Type 2 into remission. You can look it up. They no longer have any diagnosable markers of the disease, and thus, have reversed it. It has now been proven in research, which people already saw happening for decades. Typically the people who do so utilize methods that don't rely on the typical medicine based medical practices common in developed lands, and it is not reported. It's as simple as cutting out carbohydrates (which are non-essential), eating and burning fat for energy instead, and intermittent fasting. Insulin goes down, diabetes is no longer present.

1 Corinthians 6:9-11

9 Or do you not know that unrighteous people will not inherit God’s Kingdom? Do not be misled. Those who are sexually immoral, idolaters, adulterers, men who submit to homosexual acts, men who practice homosexuality, 10 thieves, greedy people, drunkards, revilers, and extortioners will not inherit God’s Kingdom. 11 And yet that is what some of you were. But you have been washed clean; you have been sanctified; you have been declared righteous in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and with the spirit of our God.

I much prefer Jehovah's viewpoint...

I get what you are trying to say, but I hope you realize your deterministic language lends to bad behavior.  It allows someone to easily shift the blame instead of taking on personal responsibility.  And while I'm sure such language would never affect you....others will be, and you must be mindful of that.  Such language can become a self-fulfilling prophecy to them.  For example:

a husband who can't cook, tries cooking.

wife says, "you never do it right! Look at how deflated the souffle is!"

Even if she’s technically correct this time, that kind of language doesn’t help him improve—it discourages effort altogether. Before long, he may stop trying, not because he can’t learn, but because he’s been convinced he never will.

Jehovah doesn’t view people that way. As 1 Corinthians 6:11 shows, he acknowledges what people were, but he defines them by what they can become when they accept responsibility and work with his help. Saying “once an alcoholic, always one” may sound realistic, but it directly contradicts the Bible’s emphasis on change, accountability, and hope.

Furthermore, regarding the topic at hand, diabetes isn't a virus that you can't shake.  It's a condition that comes poor diet choices.  Change the choices, change the outcome.  The power is literally in your hands to do.  Some may be more disposed towards getting it, but I don't care who you are...you can absolutely reverse the effects of Type 2 diabetes, and that's all that matters.  The language of whether they are or not, for the rest of their life, doesn't matter.

Don't take people's hope away by saying they're a certain way for life, as if they should just give up & accept it.

There are plenty of people who don't let their condition define them.  Yet, for everyone like that....there's 100 that will absolutely roll over and accept their fate.  And such deterministic language just reinforces their beliefs that they cannot change or overcome it.

Sorry if I come across strong on this....but I don't want to see people GIVE UP because they think they're stuck in a certain situation that actually is within their control to change.  And medicine is just a Band-Aid.  The majority of conditions can be reversed or improved by lifestyle & diet changes.  But the first step is BELIEVING that it can be changed.  Just like there's a placebo effect, there's a nocebo affect!!!!  The first battle to win, is that of the mind😉

You completely miss my point

I’m not saying about people giving up but any therapist will tell you that if you were a alcoholic then you steer clear of it for rest of your life… because one drink is never enough

I know of several brothers in this situation, they just don’t drink at all not even a glass of wine at home because they know what the consequences could be

I’m very aware of that… and remission is totally different to reversed.

I got your point - but it deserved more explanation for those that are snorkelers.  You and I may be scuba divers and can see & understand the nuances, but at surface, it looked & felt like "you are what you are, just accept it" (to quote you: "you certainly will not reverse long term diabetes").

What you just clarified was that "because of xyz condition, you need to do abc for the rest of your life".  And that is exactly right!  Now it no longer sounds like they're "doomed" to suffer whatever ailment they have , but rather, they have a solution to it.  And THAT is what I want to highlight...

People QUICKLY latch onto the negatives, as I'm sure you've seen plenty of times here.  So I'm trying to highlight the positive.  While you did choose your words carefully, and technically said nothing wrong, I've been on this earth long enough and dealt with enough people to know how some think.  So again, just me making sure the positive message was highlighted.
