Man of Steel (New Superman Movie)

Recommended Posts

I liked it but... don't know why was expecting a better argument...

But very good spetial effects and the 3D on them flying around, and from the space was awesome

Although I found the actor good, after watching Smallvile show I would prefer to see that Clark on the role ;)

I loved the movie...although I had a green gummy worm stuck to the front of my shirt afterward.

I just love that Amy Adams.Perfect Lois. And most handsome Superman ever.

liked Lois also. I remember seeing her on a movie where she was a princess coming from the fantasy world to the real world (loved the movie)

Super-mild spoiler alert

In those scenes where Faora-Ul (played by Antje Traue) unleashes havoc on the US soldiers.... I immediately had Armageddon in mind.

Because this is sort of how I always imagined the actual war at Armageddon going about. Angels appearing, being shot at with the best firepower the nations have to offer. Bullets and tank shells deflecting or passing through the angels, who obliterate entire armoured brigades with one strike...

From then on, I was totally rooting for Zod and Faora all the way. :ecstatic:

I really liked this reboot of the franchise! Hope they don't mess up the superman v. batman movie. ☺

"there was Jehovah’s word for him, and it went on to say to him: “What is your business here, E·lijah?" To this (Elijah) he said: “I have been absolutely jealous for Jehovah the God of armies"- 1 Kings 19:9, 10 Reference Bible

I'm afraid it's going to have to be renamed, "Super Friends: The Legend of Spidey-2 Boogaloo."

Here's why.

Marvel: "Hey, Iron Man made all the money. Let's green-light a ton more movies. How about having them culminate into Avengers? Cool."

- Proceeds to set up each major character with their own movie years ahead of Avengers release. (and at the very least, even introduces minor characters ahead of time to cover their bases)

Result: Audience engaged. Avengers makes all the money.

_______

Sony: "Hey, Avengers made all the money. We want that money. Amazing Spider-Man did really well. We gotta green-light a super-team movie in Spider-Man universe. How about Sinister Six? Cool."

- Proceeds to machine gun audience with every character in the books in Amazing 2"

Result: ASM2 flops. REVIEW: "The latest installment of the Spidey saga suffers from an unfocused narrative and an overabundance of characters." No duh. They tried to stuff all the groundwork for multiple characters into one movie that Marvel wisely spread out over many years.

________

WB: "Hey, Avengers made all the money. We want that money. Batman trilogy made all the money too, but it's done. We gotta green-light a DC super-team movie...one with Batman. Hit em with JLA. Can't lose. Too late to set it up in Man of Steel. We'll catch it on the next one. Cool."

- Proceeds to write a film that stuffs all the groundwork for multiple new characters into one movie that Marvel wisely spread out over many years. (of course, the two characters that didn't really need any setup are the only two that got one)

Result: Here we go again. I don't have high hopes. I just don't believe WB has the chops to introduce that many important characters into one film successfully. I really want to be wrong. Really, really.  But I wasn't about ASM2. And I just don't see any evidence of a fundamental shift in the way they make movies. (sigh)
