Government shuts down

Recommended Posts

Government shuts down: The federal government has officially shut down for the first time in six years after a deadlocked Congress failed to pass a funding measure to keep the lights on — and no one inside the Capitol knows what will happen next.https://edition.cnn.com/politics/live-news/government-shutdown-trump-09-30-25

But at least they found a mature solution for it :lol1:Once the funding deadline passed, Republicans and Democrats immediately began pointing fingers at one another for the shutdown.

This only proves that human governments are fragile and unable to rule effectively.

The only solution is here Daniel 2:44

Man was created as an intelligent creature with the desire to explore and understand :)

Furloughed and essential employees will receive back pay after a shutdown ends.

So, really, the shut down is just a disruption of people's lives. It's not like the money ran out.

Such a stupid waste of time.  The only people suffering are people who will miss making Bill payments during the shut down. If they can get the bill collectors to defer payment until the furlough ends, great. Otherwise, it's gonna hurt.

Sure — here’s a clear list of common effects of a U.S. federal government shutdown. The exact impact depends on how long it lasts and whether Congress passes temporary funding measures, but these are the usual consequences:

1. Federal Employees & Pay

Furloughs: Hundreds of thousands of federal workers are sent home without pay.

Essential employees work without pay: Military personnel, TSA agents, air traffic controllers, and Border Patrol must still report to work but won’t get paychecks until the shutdown ends.

Back pay later: Historically, Congress authorizes back pay once funding is restored, but during the shutdown, workers face financial hardship.

---

2. Federal Services & Programs

National parks & museums: Many close or operate with limited staff, leading to trash buildup, safety risks, and lost tourism revenue.

Passports & visas: Processing slows or halts, causing travel delays.

Small Business Administration loans: Delayed, affecting entrepreneurs.

Federal permits & reviews: Environmental reviews, energy projects, and other regulatory approvals pause.

---

3. Economy & Business

Contractors unpaid: Private businesses with government contracts lose money, and their workers may not be reimbursed.

---

4. Social & Public Services

Food assistance programs: SNAP benefits continue temporarily but may run into delays if the shutdown is long.

Housing programs: HUD may not be able to fund housing assistance or renew contracts.

Health & safety inspections: Some FDA food inspections, workplace safety inspections, and environmental enforcement slow down or stop.

---

5. Government Operations

Congress & the President keep working: Elected officials continue to be paid.

Courts: Federal courts stay open for a while, but if funding lapses too long, staff may be furloughed.

Law enforcement & military: Still active, but strained by lack of immediate pay and support staff.

Phillipians 4:8 Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are of serious concern, whatever things are righteous, whatever things are chaste, whatever things are lovable, whatever things are well-spoken-of, whatever things are virtuous, and whatever things are praiseworthy, continue considering these things.

It really does highlight the fragility of human rulership. No matter which party holds power, we keep seeing the same cycle of stalemate, blame, and disruption of daily life for ordinary people. But what a contrast with the Kingdom Jehovah has promised!

Daniel 2:44 reminds us that “the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed.” Unlike human governments, it will not be left to imperfect men to fight over, fund, or shut down. Its rule is permanent and just.

Isaiah 9:6-7 shows that rulership rests on the shoulders of the “Prince of Peace,” Christ Jesus, and it increases forever with justice and righteousness. That’s not a temporary budget solution — it’s eternal stability.

And Revelation 21:3-4 assures us that under that Kingdom, the problems that plague mankind — even death itself — will be removed. No furloughs, no disruption, no fear of what happens if leaders can’t agree.

In a world where shutdowns are the best men can manage, how refreshing it is to know Jehovah’s government never fails, never falters, and never passes away.

I have to get on to certain government websites for work, and the website announcements on the shutdown are quite political, placing blame on one side. I cannot remember it being like that before.

As far as I'm concerned, we need a complete human government shutdown, once and for all. Let God's Kingdom rule!
