Children’s Ibuprofen Recalled Nationwide After Reports of Contamination - US

Recommended Posts

Something meant to soothe a child’s fever has taken an unexpected turn.

A routine bottle of children’s ibuprofen—usually trusted, usually unremarkable—has drawn attention for the wrong reasons. Reports began to surface describing something that didn’t belong: a strange gel-like clump, and in some cases, dark particles drifting inside the liquid. Not what any parent expects when twisting open a cap.

The manufacturer, Strides Pharma, responded by pulling nearly 90,000 bottles from circulation across the United States. The product in question is a familiar one—Children’s Ibuprofen Oral Suspension, 100 mg per 5 mL, packaged in 4-ounce bottles and produced for Taro Pharmaceuticals.

Two specific lot numbers are at the center of the recall: 7261973A and 7261974A. Both carry an expiration date of January 31, 2027—meaning many of these bottles could still be sitting in medicine cabinets right now.

The FDA has classified this as a Class II recall. That designation matters. It doesn’t suggest catastrophic danger, but it does acknowledge risk—enough that using the product could lead to temporary or reversible health effects.

In other words, not harmless. Not something to ignore.

If a bottle from one of those lots is on hand, the safest move is simple: don’t use it. Check the label. Match the numbers. Set it aside.

Because when it comes to children’s medicine, even a small unknown becomes a big deal.
