  1. That is *not* where I'm coming from. At all. Your assumptions, however, are not pretty. 😒 I'll say no more about it.
  2. I live in Oregon. 😊 The standard has been set for many, many years.. and very clear what's appropriate for sisters and brothers who have parts on the platform. That would be dresses/ skirts, jackets & ties. It's so incredibly easy.. I struggle to understand how anyone is missing what we need to do. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I don't know if she was counseled privately. It wasn't done from the platform... so, it's very possible we'll see another sister wearing slacks, thinking it's okay.
  3. A sister with a part on the School this past Thursday wore slacks onstage.
  4. I'm not offended. I'm ecstatic that more interracial couples are depicted in our photos and videos, tbh - it was a very long time coming. It's nice to see one's background represented. ❤️ It *would* be nice to see more ethnicities represented amongst the GB and their helpers (I LOVE when I hear a different accent) - again more as a passing thought, since different backgrounds can offer different perspectives even with the same faith, don't they? But also again, I have absolute faith that everything is well in hand.
  5. I am not neutral about misspellings...
  6. I believe there is a real challenge when situations involve racial or gender issues (which may or may not be political in nature). In general, men - especially Western White men - are not affected by and may not be as empathetically aware of the very real issues that women and/or people of color face every single day. Sometimes, even within their congregations, as a result. Being aware and mindful of one's place in society and one's unconscious or even conscious biases will help a lot with empathy and neutrality, I think. Also in being able to recognize if an attitude expressed by another is truly non-neutral or if that person is simply expressing/explaining their feelings and experiences in their life. Making the effort to be humble, loving, kind, and understanding is NEVER wasted. Of course, the above applies to all of us - not just those viewed as "privileged" or not.
  7. @Katty it's probably too late for your upcoming journey, but I know a LOT of folks (especially pioneers) who have airline credit cards that give miles per dollar/pound spent. They pay their monthly expenses with the credit card to collect those miles and pay the card off with the cash normally sent to pay bills. It's very easy to build up loads of frequent flyer miles quickly that way. Witnesses I know are able to travel as need-greaters using this scheme. My brother and his wife like to vacation in Hawaii. They use a card like that for car payments, mortgage, utilities, etc... round-trip tickets cost them around $11 each plus flyer miles. Since your family is in the States, that might be worth looking into for future travel, especially as your little one grows.
  8. I would love that so much. Back in the day, if we didn't have appropriate brothers at a Book Study, I would read sometimes.. it was so enjoyable. I've always wished I could do a Bible reading talk.
  9. I just hummed that to myself -- that melody became "See Jehovah's Army!" Different lyrics.. 😉
  10. Interestingly, I pay more attention to the brothers' faces with beards. They also seem more authoritative, mature - in a good way - to me. There's a settled confidence that I get... not sure how to describe it. Maybe it's only that way from men to women... but it's curious and cool to me. It never really made much difference one way or the other with non-Witness men. But it's very effective on you brothers. Well done! ❤️
  11. Looks groovy 😎 👌🏼 I love it! Purposeful and stylish... but does need a jacket, I think. Or else that sweater better be quality 🤌🏼
  12. Yeah, these brothers would've been in high school in the late 80s, early 90s.. 😮‍💨🙄
  13. So much better. We got brothers dressed like the above as door attendants. One is an elder. The shirts are tucked in, at least - but I'm not a fan 😒
  14. Okay. I'm just gonna say it.. you know what's NOT a good look, fellas? Short sleeved shirts, t-shirt visible at neck and no jacket. Especially if it's a plaid pattern, as seems to be so popular around here. It looks like what a little kid would wear. Much too casual to my eyes - it's like what a Dad might wear to take the family out to breakfast, then a trip to the park. Brothers MUST have long-sleeved shirts somewhere, right? Those- with a jacket, no tie... that looks so much nicer than the Costco shopping trip gear I've been seeing in my congregation.. 🥺😓 There. That's my rant of the day. Let the readers use discernment 🖖🏽
  15. He was in some nifty Hertz rental car commercials. Also a few forgettable movies.
  16. Or 9 years old in 1974... it was still running! ❤️ I can't see Brother Fleegle without thinking of this show I hope you will now, too! 😉
  17. Same... I'm on Google for my mobile and desk internet
  18. Theirs will be the basements and attics we can fit into. The ones with extra freezers and food storage... I know *I* can't host anyone. If everyone was broke, we'd be in more dire straits, I think.
  19. If all brothers could speak as beautifully as this one does, it would hardly matter WHAT matches. What a gorgeous voice - I wish they had him doing some of our readings..
  20. That is exactly what Brother Sanderson said regarding proper attire for sisters on the stage. I don't know how anyone could come up with anything different and believe they're following direction..
  21. So... Which of you brothers will be the first to select one of these songs to open your Public Talks?
  22. Drop time is running very late this month. It is currently 4.24p Pacific.. and nothing, yet. I know it's worth waiting for, though! ❤️
  23. Same here. He repulses me for the sort of person he projects himself to be, not for any political reason. Plus - he looks awful and sounds worse.
