MH is a logger. He runs a danglehead delimber. He can cut up to a 28" diameter tree, delimb it, sort it then load it on a log truck. He actually can run all machines on a logging side.

To all who oppose logging or think loggers 'clear-cut' the land, that claim is a widely circulated falsehood. If they clear-cut the forest they'd all be out of a job! Most logging crews work on tree 'farms', managed by Conservancies or Weyerhauser Industries or other large timber companies that oversee the health and production of its product- trees. Or else families have planted a crop of trees many years ago for their retirement. He's working on a 100 acre tract right now. After it logged, scarified and burned it will be replanted with a good product for the next generation to have as a 'retirement' fund to harvest.

I'm going to post a video of how this machine runs in Post a Video. It is amazing.

My hope is that some will find it educational. There are so many misunderstandings about the industry. Logging has had a bad rap, something the loggers haven't been guilty of for generations. Reforestation is huge. We have a renewable resource and handled responsibly, like it is, it can continue to yield many harvests to come.

That's the same up here in Canada. Most of my relatives have work in the logging industry (including me at some point in my life), but all logging practices have changed and got into a renewable resource. If not we would of ran out of wood in the 1980's.

Big firms in Canada were still clear cutting in 1990's. In mid 90's I drove down from Timmons, ON to Sudbury, ON and there was a thin line of trees along hwy but past that all the trees were gone.

Big firms paid a small stumping fee and lost money clear cutting. Small firms paid $125 per acre stumping fee, only took a few trees per acre, leaving the rest undamaged for the most part, and they made a profit.

I have seen a delimber in action when they cleared path for new 400 hwy extension and bypasses in central Ontario north of Barrie to north of Parry Sound.

A good delimber operator with a danglehead can do some really great work. It's a bonus to any 'side' either yarder or cat side.

To watch a good one is like poetry in motion, you can almost strum your fingers to the beat that the operator has going on.

Do you have any video set to music?

There are some video of the delimber in action with the music in the cab but it's usually music I wouldn't share. In Post a Picture I shared one and really warned against the music. These are loggers remember.

I'd like to go to the landing and do a short video of MH working, you'd see what I mean. Every movement he makes has a purpose, every stroke, every cut, every measurement, every swing. Like I said it's pure poetry. Anyone who is competent at his job uses his body in such a fashion that their work seems effortless. I remember when I did floor work all the time. I could make the scrubbers work with one hand while many couldn't control it with 2. Training and time.

How to View Stereograms

At first look stereogram is similar to nothing more but a tiled pattern, however, with a proper look you can discover amazing 3D image hidden inside. And it's not just a play of imagination, the hidden image is very realistic. You will see exactly what was put in by a stereogram artist.

Basically you need to unfocus your eyes and look through the stereogram. Picture becomes blurry and doubled and that exactly what we want. This will make pattern tiles to overlap each other and each eye will be seeing slightly different image. Disparency in views will make your brain see hidden 3D image.

Some people who have problems with binolular vision most likely will not be able to see hidden image. Other vision issues such as nearsightedness and farsightedness will not affect much your ability to see stereograms. Check vision3d.com website for details.

I'm usually pretty good at being unfocused but I'm having a hard time seeing this one. I wonder if it is affected by color blindness.
