If you want to know what it's like, read "Escape from Camp 14".  It was written from the accounts of an escapee who is the only known person who was born and raised in a North Korean labor camp and escaped.  Sobering indeed.

This was very powerful. The message about hope is amazing.

I personalized this to our hope for the future. If your hope is to live in the heavens with Jehovah and Jesus and your brother angels, you know that this hope burns inside of you. You long to be there and you may feel a homesickness and longing to be united with the ones you will spend eternity with. Your desire is to be used in any way that the Creator sees fit. Your hope is to help uplift all mankind from the depths of sin and despair to a new life beyond all human imagination. You will do anything to make it happen. You keep your hope bright and constantly in front of your eyes. Nothing can stop you from attaining this goal because it is your most cherished hope.

If your hope is to live on, never dying, and witness the most powerful display of awesome power in the universe at Jehovah's War to end all wars, this keeps you going forward. You may have lost loved ones to death and you can barely contain your excitement to welcome them back into your arms and your life once again. You wish to grow in perfection and have all that life on earth offers you. To be totally free and enjoy life on this fantastic earth to the full, as a son of God keeps your hope burning brightly. This hope keeps you striving with your whole being until you achieve your goal.

Hope cannot be crushed out of existence if you keep it burning in your heart. Never give up. Keep your hope alive.

I read his book and saw an interview on TV about him. Just incredible what his life was like. My heart breaks for this young brothers. Our prayers are so needed in their behalf.

For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone.

Remember this when things get bad ... our father wont die or leave us.

Those words are so very true.

Love Rev 21.5 Jehovah has guarranteed us his word basically,

"It's a known fact that eighty decibels of rushing water is one of the most pleasing sounds known to mankind. On other hand, ten and a half days at sea is enough water for anybody."

Very moving.  I personally don't think I could live without the kingdom hope, this world is so sad so desperately injust... I would love to see things change in North Korea so that brothers in South Korea could take in the truth, I'm sure that there are many thousands of people that would come in the truth.

Very inspirational.

My grandfather was born in China. He came to the U.S. as a refugee. Growing up he always used to say: "communeest and socialeest gavament is veree guud but ounlee on paapa" ("communist and socialist government very good but only on paper"). There was a certain glare in my grandfather's eyes when he would become angry, and those were times when he noticed us grandkids never ate all the food on our plates. While some nowadays might chuckle at the adage "too many kids starving in China," it is nothing more than a very sad reality.

China's situation was difficult to swallow but I can't imagine the situation in North Korea. North Korea is one of the most secretive countries on earth and is regarded “as an intelligent black hole.”   In 2009 National Geographic correspondent Lisa Ling conducted a documentary after going to North Korea on a mission with a doctor to help the blind see.  People go blind due to the lack of medical facilities.  Quite compelling: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mxLBywKrTf4   Joseph Kim, the young man in the link above, knows too well the accuracy of this documentary.
