Long story......but, "One In A Million" by Larry Graham turned out to be our wedding song at the suggestion of the band playing at the restaurant we went to for our dinner "reception."

 

All before knowing he was a brother and had written this about the truth from his perspective.

 

Next month, it'll be 30 years for us and we still listen and dance to that song on our anniversary. Every now and again I'll reread his life story g89 2/22 12-16.

Question: Several references say you were raised a Jehovah's Witness. Is that true?

Answer: No, no, no. I wasn't raised anything. My mother went to some meetings at some point. She took me to some meetings. She didn't call herself that. It was only for a couple years' period. My father was an atheist. My mother was what you would describe as a freethinker. She would check things out and read about things, but she never joined anything.

Question: Did your mother influence your religious curiosity?

Answer: I got interested in studying the religious thing because it was never shoved down my throat, whereas most of the people I grew up with or went to school with, it was really imposed on them. They didn't have any free will. It was never like that with me. So I just studied religion on my own.

Thanks for posting that. That's why I said "around it", not was a Witness. there were a few other articles where he mentioned it or talked in a bit more detail it. He's said a few things but then backed away from those statements more than once when pushed for more details.

Okay, I'm gonna do double duty with this post:

 

I'm listening to "I Would Die 4 U" by Prince and while I wouldn't say it has Witness-like lyrics or it reminds me of the truth, the meaning of the lyrics (or alternate meaning) kind of made me wonder... is the song about a relationship, or God or Jesus (Prince wasn't a Witness at the time so he probably thought they were the same person)?  I mean, lyrics like "I'm not a woman, I'm not a man, I am something that you never understand" and "I'm not your lover, I'm not your friend, I am something that you'll never comprehend. No need to worry, no need to cry, I'm your messiah and you're the reason why" can't really apply to a guy who would die for his girlfriend or wife. Good post. I used to believe that The Truth book inspired this song. It was just last year that I was shown a YouTube interview of Tommy James where he gave credit to a trinitarian organization in relation to this song. Still, the coincidence is ponderful.

"Moon Shadow" by Cat Stevens

The moon being the luminary amidst this darkness would have to be in front of you for a shadow to follow you. It would have to be quite brite for "leaping and hopping" to happen. Expressing his resolve to bear up against adversity he gives credit to his paths illumination via this luminary. Then the question,

Reminds me of Jesus question at MT 24:45 "Who really is the Faithful and discreet slave..."
