The "New System"

Recommended Posts

I am putting this in the "General Forum" rather than one of the JW forums as - this is NOT JW related.

I work for the City where I live and am in the Building Department now. I am one of the support staff. We have used a database software called KIVA for 14 years now. It has ceased being supported years ago and will not run on Java 7 (so we have to keep Java 6 on the machines that use it - even though it has a HUGE security hole in it.)

So we went through a process of picking a new database system to use. It is used for most of the City operations related to buildings - from seeing planning commission and getting approval - to submitting plans for site work and building - to the licensing for the business when done.

We chose a system called EnerGov by Tyler Technologies ( http://www.tylertech.com/solutions-products/energov-product-suite )

We are now in the process of configuring / customizing for our use. It is going to take about a year to setup and convert our data and train everyone. What cracks me up is - the "old system" KIVA is not as stable as it used to be; so, often I hear ones say - boy I can't wait for that New System to get here or for it to get fully operational, etc.

I can't help but crack up! And think - ME EITHER!!! But of course - I am thinking of a completely different "New System" than they are ( Luke 18:30).

Have a great day!

Plan ahead as if Armageddon will not come in your lifetime, but lead your life as if it will come tomorrow (w 2004 Dec. 1 page 29)

Soon .....

Have you mentioned to them that the "New System" is spoken of in the Bible?  :)

I had the same experience when I worked for a newspaper years ago.  We converted over from an old, huge computer to individual PCs networked together.  Everyone kept talking about the New System...  I laughed every time.

Phillipians 4:8 Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are of serious concern, whatever things are righteous, whatever things are chaste, whatever things are lovable, whatever things are well-spoken-of, whatever things are virtuous, and whatever things are praiseworthy, continue considering these things.
