Swedish mosque hit by arson in Eskilstuna, injuring five

25 December 2014

From the section Europe

Firemen outside the mosque in Eskilstuna, Sweden, that was set alight - 25 December 2014

Police are treating the incident as arson after reports that someone threw an object into the building

An arsonist set fire to a mosque in the Swedish town of Eskilstuna on Thursday, injuring five people, police said.

About 15 to 20 people were attending midday prayers in the mosque, located in the ground floor of a residential building, when the fire broke out on Christmas Day.

This is truly a sign of the turbulent times we are living in. Sigh!

I noticed though that when someone throws a flaming object into a mosque it's arson, not terrorism.  If someone did that to a church or other building, it's terrorism.  But it's really just more of the same, from the god of this system of things, as James 3:15 shows:

"This is not the wisdom that comes down from above; it is earthly,+ animalistic, demonic. 16  For wherever there are jealousy and contentiousness,* there will also be disorder and every vile thing.+"

How sad.

I was surprised to hear it was arson. I would have thought since its a "religious" building it would be labeled a hate crime.

I'm not sure if this is true, but to be considered "terriorism" don't the terrorist guys (who focus on large crowds with a goal to kill / mame as many as possible) usually blow themselves up in the process?

Its sad five died, but maybe its being labeled arson because it was a drive by not an explosion by someone inside the building?

That is a hate crime and this totally makes me sick. I live by a Muslim Center and they are very nice too.

I've noticed that the world works with a lot of these labels. When we're supposed to like the people fighting the power, they're called "freedom fighters" and "activists", when we're supposed to dislike them, then they're called "separatists" and "terrorists".

By saying the police are treating the incident as arson maybe it just means that they know it was not an accidental fire, but an intentional one.

If that is what they mean, "arson" is not incompatible with "hate crime" or "terrorism", but that will have to be established later. At this time all that is known is that someone intentionally set the mosque on fire, but nothing is known about his/her motives.
