Anyone notice the 2013 RNWT has a few updates?   ...  like Ps. 51:4b  -  Compare this with the newly released MINI version and the JWLibrary App.

- the verse now seems to lend itself to more confirmation.

I'm sure there are others too   ...   anyone else find other 2013 RNWT updates?

Hi Brother Tim,

Thanks for posting this news about these new updates to the 2013 RNWT. :)

I have put the rendering for each NWT here below for PS 51:4b and

it is awesome to see the light growing brighter with the scriptures!

PS 51:4b

(WOL) & (JW App)

"Therefore, you are righteous when you speak,

You are right in your judgment"

(NWT 2013)

And be right in your judgment."

(NWT 1984)
"In order that you may prove to be righteous when you speak,

That you may be in the clear when you judge. . .”

The most current one, at the top of your list, makes the most sense. Seems that the language of this verse in the printed RNWT 2013 got overlooked in the proofreading process.

I downloaded the 2013 RNWT on jw.org and the change is there and it says it's the May 2014 printing.

Now I'm only going to read the bible from my tablet.

Even the Large print Bible dated Feb. 2014 doesn't have the change, so the pocket size is the most current version in print (May 2014)

Has anyone noticed any other changes or adjustments?

Also noted the May 2014 RNWT pocket size Bible has an added phrase at Mt. 5:18   ... "one smallest letter or" ...

Good observation :)

RNWT 2013 “Truly I say to you that sooner would heaven and earth pass away than for one stroke of a letter to pass away from the Law until all things take place.” Matthew 5:18

RNWT 2013 Later printings.... “Truly I say to you that sooner would heaven and earth pass away than for one smallest letter or one stroke of a letter to pass away from the Law until all things take place.” Matthew 5:18

And previously:

NWT 1984 “...for truly I say to YOU that sooner would heaven and earth pass away than for one smallest letter or one particle of a letter to pass away from the Law by any means and not all things take place.” Matthew 5:18

The problem here is that since the focus was on making this new translation sound like how a modern English person would state it, things accidentally get dropped and overlooked when "simplifying" it. The original Greek mentions both things, often translated "the jot and the tittle" (greek iota and keraia)  in other bibles. The iota was the smallest letter in the Hebrew alphabet, and the keraia was an accent mark - thus "one smallest letter" and "one stroke of a letter" :)

Since the original Greek has them both, it's gotta go back in the English.

Matthew 7:13, 14 is another one.

Tell us more.

My WT Library, 2013, 2014, WOL, 2013 NWT and 2014 NWT appear to read the same.

Am missing something?

I am not sying I am Superman, I am only saying that nobody has ever seen Superman  and me in a room together.

The Aug 2013 (earliest) and May 2014 (latest) printings have identical renderings of Matthew 7:13, 14, according to the PDFs. Perhaps he's speaking of the adjustment away from the 1984 rendering?

I ran the February 2014 (large print and most new standard-sized Bibles) and May 2014 (small Bible and app/WOL) printings through DiffPDF. The majority of the changes are only slight rewording of the in the outlines, the Scriptural text changes (besides Ps 51:4) are here.

The Feb and May printings both have a large number of changes compared to the August 2013 (first) printing, but those adjustments have been covered in another thread.

Feb: (1 Samuel 6:9) If it goes up the road to Beth-sheʹmesh, to its own territory, then it is the one who has done this great evil to us.

May: (1 Samuel 6:9) If it goes up the road to Beth-sheʹmesh, to its own territory, then he is the one who has done this great evil to us.

Feb: (1 Kings 7:29) And on the side panels between the crossbars were lions, bulls, and cherubs, and the same design was above the crossbars.

May: (1 Kings 7:29) And on the side panels between the crossbars were lions, bulls, and cherubs, and the same design was on the crossbars.

Feb: (2 Chronicles 31:12) They kept faithfully bringing in the contributions, tenth parts, and the holy things

May: (2 Chronicles 31:12) They kept faithfully bringing in the contributions, the tenth parts, and the holy things
