The First Fleet

Recommended Posts

My daughter is learning Aussie/British History in yr 4.

So Before My Grandfather got to old

He did his family Tree..He discovered that one or many Great Grandfathers Was Owen Cavanough.

Owen Cavanough was a Royal Navy Seaman who Travelled on Board With Sir Governor Phillip.

They came out on the Sirius in 1788..Owen Cavanough was the First to step foot on Shore & Help Philp on to Dry land.

my Grandfather also discovered the Cavanoughs were from France & escape persecution. They were members of Heuganots.

Owen Cavanough was Given land on Norfolk Island & then lived the rest of his days on The Hawksberry in NSW.

I am having trouble uploading pictures.

Anyone else apart of the First Fleet.

"It's a known fact that eighty decibels of rushing water is one of the most pleasing sounds known to mankind. On other hand, ten and a half days at sea is enough water for anybody."

Hi Gabe, There's a lot of first fleet descendants in the area where I live here in the Hawkesbury. I have an ancestor (well he may or may not be) who was transported for theft. Not so grand as yours!! However when looking at the family history "his" son seems to have been born a bit too long after his death, which makes us wonder!! I know that the registry office make mistakes so who knows. I have had mistakes on both my birth certificate and marriage certificate. So much to discover in the resurrection. Sorry can't be of more help.
