I've watched Dune movie and did not like it at all ... Same old recycled story of assasins .killings .. . Greed and power .. Boring.

The floating guy with skin disorder who sucked up the blood of the young boy just completed my view of the movie

Conclusion of the matter .. The movie has no "spice" to it !

Man was created as an intelligent creature with the desire to explore and understand :)

I haven't watched that movie, Greg. I have only read the novel.

Although there's a good portion of greed and killings in the book, in no way can it be said that it's the same old grind. It's a very original story set in a wonderfully described foreign planet, with a complete ecosystem and different cultures living in it. Even the way language is treated is original, you can tell who is speaking for the kind of words they use. It's one of the best and most innovative scifi classics ever.

Of course you may like it or not, but certainly not a trite story. I don't think that movie does it justice.

Also, there were 2 versions of the movie. The one you mention WAS terrible and NOT a very good reflection on the book - as there wasn't any guy who sucked up blood in the book or the better movie done by SciFy.

I tried to be open minded while watching the movie but like I said before " spiceless" in my opinion.

I have a book and when I recover from " the movie trauma" I will give a go .... Hope the book lives up to its reputation !

  • 2 weeks later...

I refuse to read the Kevin J. Anderson "prequel" books.  I dislike the author and I think he ruined the Star Wars novels for me.  I read the 6 original Dune books written by Frank Herbert.

I did not like the David Lynch Dune movie.  I loved the Dune and Children of Dune miniseries SyFy had on a few years ago.
