Speaking of music videos, last night, while my wife and I (we have no children) were watching the July broadcast and the new music video came up, she mentioned that these new videos give her the heebie jeebies, since they sound like worldly christian music.  She said, "well why don't they also start singing christian rock while they're at it".   Has anybody else heard this type of comment, or is my wife the only person out of 8,000,000 people who thinks that?

My wife has really been enjoying them. We don't have any children either.

We feel - its about time we get some decent music!

Plan ahead as if Armageddon will not come in your lifetime, but lead your life as if it will come tomorrow (w 2004 Dec. 1 page 29)

Soon .....

Could anyone give me the lyrics of the song from July program please? I would appreciate it very much!

Has this thread gone :offtopic:? I think so. No one has answered Victoria's question.

Sorry Victoria. I was trying to write down the lyrics last night for you, but I'm a little hard of hearing and I had trouble understanding some parts. I gave up. I'm very sorry. I hope someone else can help out.

Sorry to say, weekends are horribly busy for me (my weekend starts on Wednesday night and goes through Sunday night), and so no more comments out of me for a few days. Otherwise I would try again with those lyrics.

I tried to do it

Please correct me where you think I got it wrong

I suggest introducing the song name in the title of the thread, it would be easier to find for anybody

GLAD I PASSED THE TEST

Seems like there's something everyday,
Some new test that comes my way!
Something everyday!
I never know what it might be.
But whatever it might be,
I know I have the key.
Cause I can face it if I'm steady
And prepare, so I'll be ready
How to act and what to say
When a challenge comes my way.
At times it's tough for me out there,
And so I turn to God in prayer.

I pray I'll pass each test,
Everyone that comes my way.
I pray I'll pass each test
And be faithful through the day.

Some things I know I'll face again,
Like the pressure to fit in.
Face it once again!
There will be times when other kids
Do the things that God forbids -
- Things that God forbids! -
And pressure me to go along with
Kids I know I don't belong with,
That's the time I call to mind -
I don't wanna be that kind
Cause I'm a witness for God's name!
So there's no cause to be ashamed!

I'm glad I passed the test;
I was faithful all day long!
I'm glad I passed the test;
I'm glad that I was strong!

I don't hear it either but it was written in YouTube video. As far as I know American grammar is a bit easier than Britain so maybe they used the simple tense.

Thank you again for the lyrics! Very helpful!

Yes American English is simpler. :deadhorse:

Consciousness, that annoying time between naps!

Actually, someone posted a question last year on why we don't hear any drums in our songs......and I had NEVER thought about it. So when the newer music (on videos, etc) began to show up on jw.tv, I thought "this is GREAT!"

And yes, it does sound like some of the "christian rock"---but just because the world does something first doesn't mean it can't be used for Jehovah's purposes. The "world" came up with internet--and not all the information on the internet is good, but we are "using" the internet for Jehovah's purposes now and I LOVE it!     (Is this an example of not using the world to the full? ---1 Corinthians 7:31)

Kids are going to sing catchy tunes. Adults are going to sing catchy tunes. And although I personally have a project of listening to the Kingdom Melodies in place of radio (the purpose is to learn the lyrics), not all brothers and sisters choose to do this. That's okay. But let's give everybody lots of styles /options when it comes to music that is consistent with our personal spiritual beliefs.

Please give the new music a chance. In the New System, 99% if not 100% of the current system's music will be GONE.  But for the next few billion years, we as humans will still love music. And I can't see millions of people going around singing The Miracle Of Life 24/7.

And I LOVE the song "The Miracle of Life".

....Those who seek Jehovah can understand EVERYTHING......Proverbs 28:5. (The possibilities are endless!)

I can imagine in the past songs sung with praises used beats common in the world. Jehovah INVENTED songs of praise. The chariot is moving and the news songs makes it fresh. My kids love it. I'd rather them song this than the world's songs.
