Anyone use a straight Razor?

Recommended Posts

I have always been curious about using one but never have had a chance. I get a real nice shave from my favorite barber shop but I have never used one. I have to admit they kind of scare me. But that is half the fun right?

What do you think the barber shop pole represents? :detective:

They used to hang their bloody shaving wraps over posts to dry them. :cowboy:

Darn another slit throat. :scared::oops:

I knew I should have stopped last night after the 10th shot of whiskey! :eek::sick:

That's what it would take before I use a straight razor!

My wife use to cut my hair and she would use a straight razor to shave the back of my neck but I never used it to shave my face..

she didn't either... :)

My wife bought me a 4 bladed razor and threw away the handle for my 3 bladed one.

I hate the 4 bladed one. Clogs up really bad, really fast. Very poor shave. :beard2::censored:

I liked the 2 bladed one best, but.....  marketing promotes 3 & 4 bladed razors. (td) (td) (td)

Disposable 2 bladed razors work better.

Forgot to add about barbers. They used to pull teeth and do minor surgery, like removing bullets, especially if no real doctor around. :pistols:

I love a straight razor. It is is my go to razor. It takes a little getting used to, but its really not dangerous. At most I've had a couple nicks of the years. And cost savings are awesome. Buy one an you can use it for years.

Do you have a leather strop nailed to the wall??

My mom used to whip us with the strap you use to sharpen the blade of a straight razor.  I hated that thing! think it's called a Razor Strap.

Although I have not used it nor would I, we have my wife's great grandfathers one from the First World War. Perfect blade even now.
