I've Got a Government-Induced Migraine

Spent the day 'attempting' to get on healthcare.gov's website.  

Couldn't get the website to work and they weren't answering their phones.

 

Began around 1 yesterday afternoon and finally finished around 1 this morning.

Healthcare.gov just does NOT play nice with Safari or Chrome and those are the

only two browsers that will work on my XP PC. 

 

So I did a lot of staring at these notices:      

 

 

These messages would come up and the green thingy would spin and 

the screen would freeze up and I would have to try to get logged in ALL OVER AGAIN.  

 

Had to keep answering questions like: Are you pregnant?  Did you just get out of

jail?  Did you just get married?  Are you an illegal alien?  

 

Oh well.  At least the last message I saw was a welcome one:

Don't think it was just your browsers either - I'm on Windows 10 with the Edge browser.

 

It seems rather lame (or insert any similar word of your choice) to mandate that millions must apply at this website by a given deadline and then expect that the number of users attempting access in the final days/hours of said deadline would be no greater than those accessing the site any other time. Yet, it's quite obvious that this is what said mandating entity chooses to do.

 

I think I'll go back to looking ahead to days when such things are no longer needed or thought about!

Ah, I hear you, and sharing your pain here Ross makes me feel a little better.  I work for the govt and we have a similar "user-friendly" website with similar system capabilities (not).  I have to deal with the face-to-face customers who can't get on to do their business using our self-"service" options.  It creates a lot more stress for customers and staff alike.  I guess the idea was a good one, but the money hasn't followed the implementation to provide a sturdy enough system.

Time to come out of the dark ages Ross.

Get a newer computer that runs win 10 2nd November release.

 

My 2nd computer ( in my den of antiquity ) originally came with xp. A Dell 521C.

Although it would run Win 10 32 bit insiders, was able to update bios, ram and HDD to run full win 10 64 bit.

Works fine, although slower than this my main computer ( powerhouse )

Would love a newer PC.

Alas, farming isn't a lucrative enough business to fund

higher tech' gadgets.

 

The only reason I ended up with a 10 bucks per month

smart phone and a 25 buck tablet was because they

were included in a 'package deal' when my hubby

switched our landline phone over to Verizon mobile.  

 

The tablet kept freezing up last night, too.  But I was

finally able to 'jump through all the hoops' with it.  

 

Healthcare.gov didn't behave any differently yesterday

than any other day, for me.  I always get a migraine

attempting to use that pitiful, poor excuse for a website.  

Which is why I delayed having to endure it until the end.

Nobody enjoys a migraine.

Once you get old enough to be on Medicare it is a breeze!

 

NO webpages ever to open.

 

That's the ONLY reason to get old in this world.

Once you get old enough to be on Medicare it is a breeze!

Never been to the Healthcare Web site. My wife I have insurance that we plan to keep.

I also have medicare and it is very nice. Between the Medicare and my insurance everything works very well.

My wife can get medicare in two years.
