I'm originally from Rochester N.Y so I know what they will be going through. The last year I was there (1970) it snowed every day of winter but 5 and we got 137 inches of snow.

Not to make you feel bad though but here in Idaho it's going to be 61.

We went away for the weekend (still in Ontario, but a bit further north) and it was so cold Friday night the dogs refused to go outside (-29 C). One dog held it for close to 24 hours :( . The next day we found a pet store and bought them some booties, and they were able to go outside and, well, go!

In recent years the wind chill in my area has gotten as low as -35 or more.  I've always had little dogs so I set about making booties for them because even when it gets below 20 degrees, they can freeze up and not make it back to the house.  I bought some premie baby socks and sewed pieces of leather to the bottom of the socks and then attached the socks by two's to a one inch band of elastic and then attached those to a sturdier piece of fabric that runs the length of their backs.  They stay on no matter what and their feet are always warm when they come running back in - best of all - no little snow balls to melt off the fur either!

Don't live for the moment - live for the future! :D

Sunday morning it was minus 22 F here, in the heart of Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

Tuesday morning now and it's 36 F above zero.  We are on a regular weather rollercoaster!

Same here. We had -10 below wind chill 3 days ago and this Friday it's going to be 55! I call it "yo-yo  weather"!
