I'm trying to find a way to preserve eggs... Hens not mine LOL

Years ago you could submerge them in Waterglass solution but that's not available now due to the fact it's used in making bombs !!

Waterglass or sodium silicate is readily available in US.

Check Amazon.co.uk

Sodium silicate is banned as a concrete additive by some construction authorities .

Long distance sailors would coat their eggs in petroleum jelly.

Google "where to get sodium silicate in ireland"

I can't find any information that it is used in explosives. It is a  rather inert substance.

I remember something about dipping them in oil. Vaguely. There is a way to save them for a long time. Without refrigeration. We buy local eggs, and the chickens are about to go, off line, egg wise. Wish I'd thought about this sooner!
