A Wisconsin-based advocacy organization has asked the Flatrock-Hawcreek School Corp. to stop including prayer during school-sponsored events.

A complaint filed on behalf of a local parent by the Freedom From Religion Foundation focused on three events in Hope area schools. They were cited in a June 2 letter written by foundation attorney Ryan D. Jayne that was sent to school district Superintendent Shawn Price.

The child of the complainant witnessed a senior faculty advisor asking three student speakers for last spring’s Hauser High School commencement whether one would deliver a prayer, Jayne stated in his letter.

In the United States its a more recent change seen by many as an attack on religion and "traditional American values."

It's a sign of a trend of late to move away from the "Christian" origins of the country.  Similar moves have been made over the past 20 years to remove statues of the 10 commandments off courthouse lawns, preventing government buildings from having Christmas decorations, removing Christian religious references from school holiday programs, etc.

preventing government buildings from having Christmas decorations,

I wish they would enforce this at our local US Post Office.  Picking up your mail is like walking into Santa's workshop

around this time of year.:uhhuh:
