Statute of Limitations set aside in NY

The New York state government has passed a law to provide a one year window for child abuse lawsuits that are beyond the statute of limitations.

These victims had no legal recourse due to the statute of limitations. Now they do. It's called Child Victims Act.

Thousands of lawsuits are expected against the Catholic Archdiocese, Boy Scouts and school districts.

Imagine if more states made this provision for victims. It makes you wonder if the Catholic church will still be functioning when the Great Tribulation starts.

If this is not the start of GT,  then its prelude.. Im just happy that the prophecy is not being fulfilled..

When many states in the US filed cases against dioceses in 2018 that started in Pennsylvania, I can see clearly that the destruction of babylon is near..

and bro I also knew what happened in Tuam, Ireland, when a catholic orphanage sold many children in US.... and they took their babies .. many have died and were not given a decent burial.. Recently, in 2017 I think if I remember, this tragedy was exposed by the media.

To moderators, please if this does not belong here or to much information because of being public post elsewhere or not at all.   Not trying to bring criticism to us.

Because of this change in the law..... I am sorry to say, I read in the NY Post with a link to Newsweek  on Tuesday that 2 (one male & female) people are filing suit on Wednesday (yesterday) against the JW's and the GB.    The attorney ask if there are others to come forwarded.   I learned of this because an elderly sister in my congregation husband gets the Post delivered to their home.  He is not in the truth and of course was upset and questioning her about it.  She then called me.

I have not checked today to see if the suit was filed.

My husband & i had a long conversation about this when we both read the article Tuesday.  I'm here with tears in my eyes bc my own experience  that started when I was 12.   Has nothing to do with the congregation as I did not grow up in truth. But  because of my experience I taught my children, (all raised in the truth) if anyone ever approaches you in that manner to tell me.    And it must be done continuously.  The friends should not be naive about what happens in and out of the truth.      I know that it is no ones fault but the evil perpetrators.  Funny....i'm 66 and it still hurts.

Shirley, first of all I'm very sorry to hear about your experience. It breaks my heart when I hear of children whose lives are severely damaged by these monsters.

It's true that some children have suffered sexual abuse by individuals who pretended to be JWs and our heart goes out to those children. For many decades the organization has warned parents about this reality and given good advice on how to prevent child abuse. But this lawyer firm that is handling those cases doesn't care at all about children. Why not? Because they are not suing the abusers, but our organization!  Can you imagine that? Someone attacks you and you sue his church. That doesn't make sense! Why? Because the organization can pay millions in compensations while the individual abusers cannot. They are clearly only after the money.

In any case this strategy is absurd. None of the brothers in the GB today served in that position when those cases happened. So they are going to sue someone completely unrelated with the abuse. So far this lawyer has lost all the cases he has conducted against our organization, and we hope the same will happen this time.

There needs to be a “sympathy and sympathetic agreement icon”. The sad or thumbs up icons just don’t quite match.

Yes..I pray that us this will be the outcome.  I have such love and respect for the GB, and all the "faithful" ones who take the lead in local congregations and worldwide.
