Turkey mad at Twitter 'like'...

Only posting this beacause it's too humorous in a petty way not to.  Can we get a thread for the most funny/obnoxious news articles for humor?

Yes, that is because Turkey is going through its hardest period in its relations with the US, which it suspects of orchestrating the 2016 failed coup. The Turkish leadership is very sensitive to any kind of seemingly unfriendly gesture on the US part. So I would not call the reaction to the tweet "petty".

The communication problem is the Ambiguity of the “ Like “ button. It can mean too many things.

I personally use like so I can find things again later on FB and Twitter, like if I didn’t have time to read them at the time. I know others do that sometimes too. Like can also mean you react that you saw it.

Thank you, Br. Shawn. That is not "too many" though. I thought may be Br. David would come up with something else.  

 

Interestingly, researchers, especially marketers and psychologists, study "likes" on social media to determine what a particular person or age group etc is like. This kind of data helps them to predict behaviour for marketing purposes.

I only gave 3 examples off the top of my head.

 

Regardless, we live in a day and age when people and nations want to take offense.  To take such offense over "liking" a Tweet to the point that it's a news topic is really nonsense.

Sometimes a “ Like” is just to let the person know your paying attention to what they post and nothing more. It can be very neutral. Or it can be supportive or even against the poster position depending upon context. That’s the problem with the “ Like” emblem. Their needs to be an “ acknowledge “ emblem. Maybe Leonard  Nemoys face.

   In any event with Turkey invading Syria and potentially causing 10’s of thousands of ISIS fighters to be looked upon the world I should’ve be surprised they took that “ Like” in the way they did.
