Recording Software

Recommended Posts

Not sure if this is the place for this request.

I've been looking for free recording software, so I can record readings for a brother who is going blind.

I'm in a bind financially, so I can't afford a hefty outlay on software.

So I was wondering if anyone here knows of a software package I could use to do these recordings.

Many thanks to all of you.

I realise the society has got so much covered as far as recordings.

I was talking to this brother about the book of Br Max Liebster, and how much it had encouraged myself.

And he expressed a desire to "read" it.

I'm not talking about embarking on a recording of a number of publications - just this one.

Then I'd burn a CD for him, so he could play it back.

I use Goldwave and I like it.

Have you looked at alternative ways for him to hear the book?

About 30 years ago we had a blind brother in our congregation and I got some volunteers to record the yearbook for him. It was a fun group project and he loved hearing the entire yearbook. I even found volunteers that had the appropriate accent for the country they were reading 👍🏻

How cool is that ???????

I tried to use Audacity, but there are restrictions without paying.

I'll try Goldwave.

Thank you so much for the information!

I tried to download Goldwave.

Got an error - how do I work around this?

This error is not related to Goldwave. It means your computer hard drive (i.e. file system) is damaged.

cmd-sfc-scannow.png.84b8a2d6aec577f062f8f9b5848a1e7b.png

Try opening a program “cmd” from your Start option, and you will be given a prompt window to enter commands. Type “sfc /scannow” as shown. Your PC will start scanning drive automatically like on the picture. (The shape and the colour of the cmd screen may differ from computer to computer.)

Alternatively, download another copy of the installer, or try running it as Administrator privilege. (However, to avoid your computer going damaged, I suggest you to go take it look at someone who is professional.)

Audacity is completely free. There are no paid version of Audacity. I think you may have misread about the paid version. Goldwave, on the other hand, is pay-to-use. The free version of Goldwave is a restricted version, but there are no consequences for not paying it.

Make sure the version of the software is the correct version for your operating system. Like, don't download the android version if you have a Windows pc, etc. (if they offer different versions for different operating systems)

That's what I've found that can cause the error message that you received.

Here is one for Windows that I haven't tried...

Here is one for Android that I do use. It's free, but I did drop a little bit for the Pro version...

Hope that helps!
