JW library won't load

Recommended Posts

My friend's JW Library will not load on her android tablet. It just shows the JW Library logo and then hangs forever. She has a Galaxy Tab 2.

This is what we tried:

-restarting the tablet

-checking for app updates

-checking for OS updates

-clear the cache

-force stop the app

-letting the app try to load for 30 mins

-turn off wifi and data

The only thing left to do is to uninstall the app and start fresh, however she would lose all her study notes and there's no way to back it up since she can't get into the app.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

What Is the operating system version?  I thought that Galaxy quit the updates for Tab 2 this year.

I'm not sure. The app was working fine. She was using it outside in the sun and it got very hot so she tried putting it in the freezer to cool it down LOL.

Anyway, I was thinking if there was a way to save the app data. That way she could uninstall the app and keep all her study notes. I was looking in the Google Play Store for apps that might do this. There's one called "Backup and Restore." Maybe something like that would work?

I don't know.  The last Tab 2 I remember seeing was running Android 4.0 (Ice Cream).  That is too old a system for the latest update to function.  That was why I asked.

...which is not a good reason to put it in the freezer when it get hot...😳

Never too hot, or too cold. And the thing about backups is that you do them while things are working fine. Otherwise you might find yourself in a situation where you lose your material when you have to reinstall the app.

Hmm, interesting. Maybe it's not working because of the latest update. Is there a way to roll back to a previous version of JWL?

There are no ways to roll back to older version unless you uninstall the app, at which point data loss will occur, so you might as well just delete the app and start afresh on a new phone.

You mentioned about a feature Backup and Restore. That might be one thing to save the data. Your study notes, etc are saved on the app caches and the data it uses on the phone's hard drive. So it is critical that you save them and somehow move it to a newer phone with these files intact.
