The intricacies of the English language

Recommended Posts

From The Mice and Men (Steinbeck includes a lot of dialogue in the book, and this is all written in colloquial language. This reflects the way that people would really have spoken, which shows Steinbeck’s focus on trying to show the hardship of life for itinerant workers during the Great Depression)

‘Maybe that’s why Curley’s pants is full of ants "

Answer :  nervous and restless

Daydream -

Scientists have discovered that daydreaming is an important tool for creativity. It causes a rush of activity in a circuit, which connects different parts of the brain and allows the mind to make new associations.

English language is a screw up language. It was invited about 1,000 years ago by some pot heads. If you go to college, there are classes Basic English and College English. If not in college, there is a class None College English too.

This illustrates perfectly why Americans should be the last people to criticise the English language.  🤣

 This floccinaucinihilipilification is tiresome.

Steinbeck is one of my favourite American authors. The Grapes Of Wrath is just brilliant, and Of Mice And Men is so well-written. (I love the film with Chaney, too)

Incorporating colloquial speech so that it ‘sounds’ authentic is so difficult to do successfully.

If the plural of tooth is teeth,
then the the next time I see a bunch of phone booths,
I’m going to say, “Wow, look at all these beeth.”

And if the plural of goose is geese,
then the next time I see a flock of moose,
I’m going to say, “Wow, look at all these meese.”

I am American and I criticizing the English language now. I always wonder why I love the Hebrew language? I come to find out about about 3 years ago, that I am part Jewish. Who knows that the language was built in me?  And my craziness partly comes from my Native American side.
