Care of @jwhess, shared at the 2024 Regional Convention. For those who don't want any Convention Spoilers, the experiences alone are quoted here.

Quote

One extra experience he added was about an older pioneer sister who was preaching and a local puppy-dog started following her.  Every door, ther was the dog.  She worked all morning and when she was done, she tried to find the owner.  Finally, she knocked on a door and the lady said it was hers.  She wanted to know what the sister was doing so she explained the purpose and the study.  The lady had been praying to God for help.  The little dog led the sister to her.

Another experience was a couple that had a Bible Study but When they knocked, ther was no answer.  the door was locked, there was no car in the drive and curtains were drawn.  No one was at home.  They knocked a couple of times then the husband said he would call them on the phone.  The wife answered and said they could come in.  She seemed upset so they talked to her.  She asked them if they knew waht she was doing when they called.  She was writing her suicide note when they knocked.

In the early 80’s I took out a seldom worked territory. a rural small town 20 miles from nowhere. I was working with a young boy I studied with . I said;  "let’s do one more door".

As we were walking up to the house I see a little girl in the open window (about 4 y/o).

I said: “Hi, is mommy or daddy home? She said: “My mom is deaf”.

I immediately said;...”ok never mind, and turned to leave.”

Then I turned back around and asked the girl her to get her mom.

Long story short,  she and her husband (also deaf from birth) taught me and my wife ASL while we studied with them. They told me they were praying to understand the Bible more....even though they were going to Church that had an interpreter.  They and their 2 daughters were all baptized.

But here’s the kicker. After I started the study and finished the territory. I turned it in and found out that somehow I was working the wrong territory. I read the map wrong.

Nevertheless, that study led to several other deaf studies with a few of their acquaintances that came into the truth as well.

Furthermore, Myself and the brother I taught ASL to.......were then used to start 2 ASL congregations in different states in the mid-west.

All because I worked the “wrong" territory. I blame Jehovah for that.

Actually, your were at the wrong place at the right time.

We have at times brothers working our territory from their own, where they either had to cross a creek because they can see that house from their side of the creek (there were no roads from their territory to this house at all), or they worked on the other side of the railway line (the railway line is a border line).

In the former case of those crossing the creek, the householders did become fellow believers, but when being first visited, they were asking the same questions to those in our congregation who were visiting them to those of the other congregation, but getting the same answers to their questions.
