I don't think any of us are just sitting around and waiting for the end. Many are fighting a tough battle to survive financially at all, there is no room to plan as if Armageddon would never come. Not everyone has the opportunity to continue their education or to catch up on a degree, not to mention the fact that higher secular education is rather discouraged. And many simply cannot afford materials that are better and therefore more expensive. Times are very difficult for many of us and Armageddon is the only bright spot on the horizon. I just like Matthew 6:33. first the kingdom and Jehovah gives us what we need. Not a luxury life, but it's enough for us.

I think my luxury is actually giving myself some grace.  It's not material for me either.  As things get more difficult, my body gets older and the responsibilities of my aged parents increases, I know that what I can do secularly and even spiritually has decreased. I don't see financial changes for the better on the horizon. But I'm ok with that. Our bright spot is our hope.  Staying busy the best way we can is necessary.

Dance. Even if there's no music.

After serving as a Bethelite for 4 years at Patterson, I saw that the Slave doesn't do construction with inferior materials. If they can't do it with quality, then they don't do it all. It always costs more in the long run to have to keep maintaining inferior stuff over quality. So, really they can't afford to do it "cheaply". They appreciate donated funds too much for that. I appreciate my small paycheck too much to waste it.

Now, if one has the mindset that there is only 1 or 2 years left in this system without planning ahead for the long term - then maybe that would be different. But, I have never seen the Slave take that approach. They are always looking and moving forward as if there is a lot more time to go. In fact, think how far out they had to plan for the Jesus video series - buildings, sets, writing, planning, filming, editing, etc. We might get the entire thing, but had they just "planned" like there was only a few years left - that would have never happened.

Edit: as for my time - I don't have more than anyone else. We all have the same. I have to work full-time, at least for now, but that doesn't mean I can't do anything else. I have been a husband for 37 years and elder for almost 30 years and I am very active at it, LDC, our own Kingdom Hall maintenance and the ministry. I also stay healthy by working out twice a week. But instead of TV I study. We make time for things if we think they are important. Good news, if there is only a week left of this system, I haven't wasted any of the time or money. What I've learned will be of good use in the New World too. And if it doesn't I can still serve well into my old age. I just have to keep my health up as best I can.

You express the sentiments of many of us, Jerry, as we battle on with our life, serving Jehovah and trying to give our best.

An important factor in their decision to use quality materials is they believe a lot of our buildings will survive Armageddon and be used in the New System (they even said they may have to finish filming the Jesus films in the NS). Using long-lasting materials makes sense when you expect the building to last a long time. That isn't true for the majority of our personal homes - even if they do survive Armageddon it is almost guaranteed we will move somewhere else, making the "need" for high quality materials null and void.

I believe some major decisions will be made if Trump wins.  These other nations will have a little more than 2 months from election to inauguration to act before Trump is once again the "leader of the free world".

They can likely wait , knowing he is way less likely to respond to any attach where he doesn't have a personal benefit.

I am sure Russia is holding on for the same reason - without US support Ukraine will be done in.

We are in for some interesting times.

Amen!! I think I used to be so hard on myself for not being able to reach certain original goals. Not for lack of trying, but sometimes life happens and we have to be realistic about what we can mentally, spiritually, financially, emotionally and physically handle. I'm happy that modesty has allowed me to say, it's ok if you can't do this or that. Jehovah didn't say we have to do everything, he said give him your best. That looks different for everybody. So, I've given myself grace knowing that Jehovah will not forgot the works I've done for his name.
