I’m part Indian

Recommended Posts

On funny  side, I was speaking with 2 very nice black women yesterday at the library. And they were talking something about a white guy in which he did something bad. I interrupt and told them I’m part Indian so I can distant myself being all white. One of the ladies said she is part white.  It is crazy what people goes through known days.

I’m a member of a tribe. Yurok.  Got my DNA done. I’m native, North  and South America, European, and, to my delight, I have blood from two tribes in Africa. One way of putting my native blood, is I suspect I’m a lot Mexican. Northern tribes, not so. So, I’m an honest to goodness mutt of a person, much to my delight.

I want to age without sharp corners, and have an obedient heart!

My dark colouring confuses people a lot. I get called Indian all the time - the Asian country, not tribal American.

The funny thing is I’ve had many Indians come up to me and speak their language and be genuinely surprised I’m not Indian. But even more weird, they always pinpoint my origin as coming from the Punjab region!

My parents are Greek/Italian, but my sister never has this experience. So it’s only me - I’m EurAsian 😁

I put all my 6 backgrounds on my 2020 and 2021 census. I’m a mutt.

I have nieces and nephews that are biracial and multiracial. It would always offend me and my sisters when strangers would walk up to us and ask what their racial makeup was. What made it so offensive is that they would ask it right in front of the small impressionable children. We didn’t want them to grow up thinking that that was so important… but apparently it was important enough to the people that they felt the need to ask 🤦🏾‍♂️

The Hebrew word cushi or kushi is an affectionate term generally used in the Bible to refer to a dark-skinned person of African descent.

I know some people feel this way. I do try to be sensitive to how things come across when asking about people and their life.   I can understand you and your sister being bothered if it’s just random, out of the blue. No other conversation other than “what mix are you”. 🙄

I do love to find out how people are mixed, where they are from etc, even if I am asking based on just an accent. It’s more because I like to find out where people are from and their culture, how they got together etc. My husband will do the same thing. It’s generally more acceptable coming from him since he’s more tan than me. Haha

I do admit I probably ask dumb questions sometimes. Like I learned that Spanish people from Texas say they are Texan, they don’t seem to like talking about what country their families are originally from. I’m sure it comes from years of prejudiced behavior towards them. There is also a sensitivity about citizenship. Since my father is an alien resident, I was naturalized and I was married to an alien resident, citizenship wasn’t a sensitive topic for us. I used to to say I was surrounded by 👽

I was a bit of a ditz years ago about the whole biracial thing. I don’t think I ever really had it in my head about couples being “biracial” just based on their color combo. I’m married to a Latino (I’m white but a mutt like most people). When my son was going for testing at age 2, the report said he was biracial. I was so surprised because I had never thought about it before!  i hadn’t paid attention to the fact people considered us a biracial couple. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I thought it was an odd thing for a report about his autism too.

On the other hand, if I know someone is Spanish (for instance) I like to ask the background. It affects what type of food they may be into, even the words they find appropriate or inappropriate. I really do the same with everyone. I’m always surprised when I meet someone who has lived in the same city their whole life. Most of us have moved around and come from different places. It makes things so interesting!

So apologies if I ask any of you dumb questions when we ever meet in person! 😂 I just want to live vicariously through you by asking lots of questions about your life.

Jer 29:11-“For I well know the thoughts I am thinking toward you, declares Jehovah, thoughts of peace, and not calamity, to give you a future and a hope.”

Psalm 56:3-“When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.”
Romans 8:38-”For I am convinced...”

Well I don’t look it at all but according to my genetic test I’ve got a little Punjabi in me as well. I’ve got roots in every continent except Africa. It will be fun to trace it all out in the new system. I want to know which one of Noah’s sons I came from. Just for fun.
