What is the weirdest food you have eaten?

Recommended Posts

As many are from different parts of the world, what are the some of the weirdest foods you have eaten.

Personally, I will give most things a go, unless it is purely disgusting. Now I being from Australia, we may have some things here that you may not get elsewhere.

I have eaten kangaroo (which I had the other night as shish kebabs on the BBQ), crocodile, emu, wallaby (similar to kangaroo but much more off putting - perhaps it was how it was cooked), Witchetty grubs (cooked and raw), snake over hot coals (very similar to eel).

A huge sea snail in Japan.  It was plated up very appealingly, but ….. Not a fan, tasted like rubber, but the dipping sauce was nice. Didn’t want to offend, so I chewed on that piece of rubber until I could finally swallow it, smiling as I did so. The rest of their cuisine was scrumptious.

Possibly not very 'PC' but I had shark fin. Horrible stuff. However the Chinese family that procured it - especially for me - could not understand why I did not devour it.
Fortunately my (American born) Chinese son-in-law bailed me out and saved ....

Has anyone eaten groat? Maybe I have and didn't know what it was called.

Groats - the hulled kernels of various cereal grains, such as oat, wheat, rye, and barley. Groats are whole grains that include the cereal germ and fiber-

Bulger wheat is a form of groat. I like it, but family would rather eat rice.

I am not sying I am Superman, I am only saying that nobody has ever seen Superman  and me in a room together.

Haven’t really ate too many weird things but I ate baby squid once.

The Hebrew word cushi or kushi is an affectionate term generally used in the Bible to refer to a dark-skinned person of African descent.
