After receiving an external correction request, USA TODAY audited the reporting work of Gabriela Miranda. The audit revealed that some individuals quoted were not affiliated with the organizations claimed and appeared to be fabricated. The existence of other individuals quoted could not be independently verified. In addition, some stories included quotes that should have been credited to others.

Harsh punishment, it seems. That's good. Now I wish they would fact-check the articles written by Trey Bundy over at Reveal News! I read on the forums he's an apostate, and is pretty inventive with his articles about Jehovah's Witnesses and child abuse. Shame on him!

It's sad that people fabricate lies like this.

On the other hand, the fact that those articles were removed and that journalist was fired at least shows that they care for accuracy.

I love this.

Its why actual news organizations or more likely to be truthful than say a blog. Here they hold themselves to “truthiness” standards. There are no standards for many of the bloggers and “entertainment” / “opinion” sites.
