Before that event occurs, the king of the north and the king of the south will continue their conflict with each other and with God’s people.

Back during the Cuban Missile Crisis (1962) many got worried and there was a large proliferation of fallout shelters built. People got immensely worried that the world would be destroyed by atomic bombs. The fear escalated even after the missile crisis ended. Here it is 61 years later, and mankind has still not destroyed the earth so much that life is not possible.

 

Yes, there is pollution, climate change and social/political unrest that has an impact of daily life. The nations are in a state of turmoil never before seen. However, just as in 1962, instead of worrying or dreading - I keep in mind what Luke said, "Stand up straight and lift up your heads, because your deliverance is getting near.” (Luke 21:28)

 

It is not a "bad thing" or even something to fear or worry about if Russia and China are chummier than they have ever been. It is just expected fulfillment of Bible prophecy and helps reinforce how close we are to the end of this system and the start of the New System.

 

Just as in 1962, Jehovah will not allow mankind to ruin His earth beyond the point of sustaining life - so, we have nothing to fear and much to look forward to.
