but i cant figure out a way for that to be shown - the nearest i can get is a monthly card/notification with 4 names listed.

That sounds like a reasonable solution. So you would have separate task cards for each week, Fire Alarm Test-Week 1, Fire Alarm Test-Week 2, etc?

problem is, it just shows one monthly task assigned to 4 people.

i would prefer a weekly task.

however while playing around with it tonight i think i can rename one of the garden maintenance tasks and use that.

I have a problem with Public Speaker Sharing (somebody else's computer). When I open it the spinning dots just keep going and it never finishes. I have kept the program open for over a hour and its still trying to sync. Other parts of the software sync just fine. Any ideas?

The same thing has been happening to me for several weeks. I do not have access to the public talk scheduling, but it says there is an incoming request, and the dots just spin when I go to the Public Speaker Sharing. The TC has logged on several times in the past few weeks and the request is still there, I haven't talked to him about it yet. Is that the same problem you are seeing?

I as the admin don't have a problem. But I am trying to help the TC. As I am typing this a thought occurred to me. He is older and so I didn't give him the ability to make changes. His assistant is supposed to do that. But it seems it should sync even with view only access. I will check that when I get home.

So I found that if the public talks are read only then the Public Speaker Sharing will not sync.

Do you know why I can see an Incoming Request and what I can do to get rid of it?

Why is it, that names in the hodpitslity list disappear after a while? Is it a bug, or on purpose?

My guess is because its not needed anymore. The chairman and WT reader also disappear. I think they are trying to keep the database as small as possible.

I'm still having 'syncing' issues between the PC version and mobile version.

I have swapped LaC parts around' and 'sent' the changes 'upline'. The changes appear on the PC version, but the changes are not showing up on my mobile device.

What is going wrong? Why are the changes not showing up?

Any help/suggestions to get the changes to show would be appreciated.

Ty.

Tony, a couple months ago there was an important update that required to update the mobile app too and in most cases choosing a region and entering your user details again.

Please make sure you have the latest version of both NW Scheduler and NW Publisher. If your NW Scheduler is correctly set up to your region, try disconnecting your user in the mobile app, selecting the proper region and entering the details again.

Syncing issues have come up a number of times in this thread. Here is a somewhat comprehensive way to fix them.  All of these fixes are from the NWS help documentation and/or from my experience.  I am sure there are brothers smarter than me that could add some additional tips.

How Do I Know it is a Syncing Issue? (Possible clues.)

  • Brothers see different data on a page that should be the same.
  • A page keeps scrolling endlessly.
  • A brother can see the correct data in NWS but it is incorrect in NWP.
  • A brother adds or edits data but later it has disappeared or reverted to an earlier entry.

Why are there Syncing Issues? (From the most common to least problem.)

  1. All of the elders and ministerial servants have not installed a major update.
  2. Two brothers were adding or editing data in the same section at the same time.
  3.  Edited data is not cleared first.
  4. A brother has transferred in from another time zone and has not updated his computer to the correct time zone.

Expanded Details to Fix Syncing Issues

     1.  If even just one elder or ministerial servant has not installed a major update there is a strong possibility that there will be syncing problems.  Brothers are legitimately busy, and they can forget to do it even with reminders.  We would constantly have problems until the last brother updated.  After everyone is updated, the problems are always instantly resolved.  Now we simply turn off the ability to add or edit any data until everyone is updated.  After everyone is updated, we turn the privileges back on for each respective brother.  That just saves some frustration and brothers having to go back and fix corrupted or disappeared data.  (This is not supposed to happen with the minor updates, but it did happen to us one time.  Even though it was just a minor update, we had syncing issues until everyone updated.)

     2.  Lets say Brother 1 and Brother 2 are both adding or editing data for the midweek meeting.  Brother 1 is done and clicks Send Data.  Brother 2 finishes later and he clicks Send Data.  Whatever Brother 2 sends will override everything that Brother 1 did because the system assumes that Brother 2’s data is the new correct information.  Sometimes it is best to only have one brother do the data entry for any particular section.  If it is helpful to have an assistant, they need to communicate well, and each brother needs to send data before the other brother starts adding or editing.

     3.  The software will let you edit data and it will appear to be changed.  In most cases it does work.  In some cases, it will show correctly for the brother that made the change but for everyone else it still shows the original data.  The software is stubbornly keeping the old data as being correct.  The solution is to always click the "Clear" button before you add the new data.  Example:  Brother 1 is the weekend chairman and you want to change it to Brother 2.  First click "Clear", then enter Brother 2.

     4.  A lot of the data entry and actions are time-stamped internally in the system.  If a connected elder or ministerial servant has a different time zone, when data is sent, the system is confused and doesn’t know what to do.  The information will come out incorrect, or not show up at all.  I spent days one time trying to troubleshoot our syncing issues and then remembered a brother that had moved in.  I walked him through how to change the time zone on his desktop.  After adding one token data entry and sending the data, everything was restored and worked from then on.

One more comment on what can be misconstrued as a syncing issue.  A publisher may be seeing incorrect data on their NWP app while everyone else is seeing the correct information in both NWS and NWP.  That publisher should go to the Google Play Store or Apple App Store and update the NWP.  Some updates do not go through automatically and must be done manually.

Ty Carlos.

I am running the latest software & updates on both my devices. (As an 'old' coder, I try and keep on top of the updates.)

I was the one that made the update on my NWS (PC), so that the Chairman would have to latest names for the meeting in a few hours. [That was yesterday/last night.]

I also had the latest NWP on my android phone. The change 'took' on the PC_NWS, and i 'sent' it upline as I exited. For whatever reason, it did not show up on the NWP until this morning [Ie. the day after the meeting. lol]

I have a screen shot of my PC & Phone {side-by-side [as I use MS Phone-Link]}. I swipe down, I reload, I restart my phone...it did not ever display the changes until today. (Although, I can no longer 'see' last night as it rolls off the system, however, next week now correctly shows the 'swapped' brother.

Marky's comments may have a clue - not 'clearing' the change before swapping the name. I do not do this. I just click on my name, and select the new name...

I was wondering if the 'time-stamp' in different regions are causing a problem.

I will watch with interest next time I make a change. I also note there was another minor update today (my time).

Thanks again for your input everyone!

DownUnder Tone

Ty Marky.

I appreciate you taking the time to catalogue your observations.

I will watch with interest my next schedule changes, and see if I can ovoid getting the data out of sync.

Brothers can get a little frustrated, I know I have, when everyone connected needs to be on the same updated version.  This is a robust and complicated piece of software.  To keep all the data encrypted in both directions as well as on the servers, and then sync the information so all the appropriate people can see it is a major task that constantly needs updating.  NWS is doing their best to comply with best security practices and at the same time strictly adhere to the organization's direction.

I forgot to put in my original post, an admin can see what version each individual brother has installed by this path:

Congregation > Congregation Sharing > Shared Persons

Interesting since I have always been able to see previous schedule for several days after the event. Our meeting was last night but the schedule is still there. In fact I can still see last Sunday which was 4 days ago.

Tony, as others have mentioned, it's not only you but all brothers who enter data into NW Scheduler need to be in the same main version. Most syncing issues come from someone entering data from an older version of the software.

Ty Floyd. You are correct.  I can see last nights schedule, and my change has finally filtered through. Too bad it was a day after the meeting.  Lol

Ty Carlos.

I will try and see which versions everyone is on. It used to be easy to find, then it seemed to move, and I lost it..

As I was updating the data (with the latest verion of NWS) on my PC, I did assume it would update the main data stack... and be visible on my phone...

Either way, it got there in the end.

Thanks everyone for your support and suggestions.

T.

Interesting problem.  One territory (84) was returned July 2, 2024.  Two other territories were returned July 5, 2024 (150 and 164).   On the "Next to Assign list it shows territories 150 and 164.  Territory 84 is not on the list at all!  Haven't found the reason yet.

EDIT:  I didn't have time to read all 78 pages

I wanted to be able to send out an email to all persons that are missing information. I can see that I can email a list to group overseers but I wanted to email the publishers directly in a more automatic way and let them know what information we are missing.

If I understand correctly what you want to accomplish, this module should work. Select those that you want to send to and be sure to check the box "Send individually.

That sends all of the information to check. I want the next one which will specifically tell them what is missing and only send to those who are missing information. But is seems to only send it to the group overseers.
