NW Scheduler/Publisher - Updates, Support, and Suggestions

So the data is in the cloud waiting for NWS to retrieve it but its not retrieving it.

Floyd, have a look at the permissions of every elder in the Congregation Shared settings.

It could be that some of the recent updates removed the permission to receive reports from all elders. Or it could be some elder received the reports but is not aware he needs to upload them back to the app. The best setting in most cases is to have only two or three elders who know how to use the app receive the reports.

It's also useful to have a look at the logs since they will tell you who received the reports.

Make sure all Shared elders with permissions to receive the reports have updated to the most recent version. Mixing different versions often causes this kind of issues.

Now - the error message no longer appears, but his phone works fine; hers doesn't. NW Pub opens, but there is no data at all. No meeting schedule, no assignments, no duties - nothing. When I refreshed the person, notifications were triggered, but no data appeared.

John, you have probably checked this already but are her details and the congregation PIN correctly entered?

I was doing some testing with permissions on myself because another brother was having a problem. Long story short I forgot to check the box again to receive reports for myself. Your suggestion lead to look at the permissions. Thanks.

The life and ministry overseer still likes to use KHS. He sends me the pdf schedule and then I have to manually enter it into NWS. Is there an easier way to do this?

One guess is that he is a brother who worked hard to figure out KHS, and doesn't feel comfortable tackling something new and possibly even harder for him.

If he is a reasonable brother (all of us ARE reasonable, aren't we?) you could try these steps:

  1. If not already, get him connected to NWS sharing, so he doesn't have to struggle with that.
  2. Show him exactly how (ie, personally walk him through it) to use NWS to generate the CLM schedule (in case he is resistant to anything new). Show him how it is the same (or better) than KHS
  3. Show him how it is actually just as EASY, CHEAPER, and LESS WORK for him to make the assignments in NWS
  • JUST AS EASY because the NWS assignment system is very similar
  • CHEAPER because he won't have to pay the yearly fee for NWS
  • LESS WORK BECAUSE:
    • He won't have to maintain the KHS database of publishers, phone numbers and email addresses
    • NWS provides a useful tool for listing and assigning local needs parts (we're getting lots of those these days)
    • NWS will alert him to not assign parts to brothers who have indicated they will be away. It will even alerts him if a publisher has to be away after an assignment has already been made
    • He will no longer have to provide you with a pdf
    • He can make last-minute adjustments more easily in NWS. They flow through to all the publishers immediately
  • LASTLY - He will be showing you love and respect by saving you a LOT of work.

If he STILL resists, could he be willing to just try it for 2 months...?

John that is a loving approach. When we first moved over our PTC was adamant that he was not switching. So, for the sake of unity, I did the same and when he asked if I would just enter it for him in NWS which I happily did. I think after a few months and asking me late on Saturday to update last minute changes for Sunday he began to feel a little 'guilty' and eventually asked me to help him get set up. Once he got over the initial work, he actually learned to appreciate the program and that we were all on the same page.

What is the latest on this? And thank you for making it happen.

New World Scheduler Native macOS Version

There is currently no native macOS version of New World Scheduler. Please use one of the options above for running New World Scheduler on macOS.

We have started developing a native macOS version of New World Scheduler. Due to the large time and expense involved, this may be ready sometime in 2025.

I understand that getting someone to switch is ideal. But what I was really asking is there a easier way to import a schedule from KHS.

Hi!
I have never used KHS but I have noticed that in the Import or Export section you can import from KHS:
