2023 Governing Body Update #8 / BEARDS!!!

Recommended Posts

Another one of the facial features that was raised some time ago was that of long sideburns. We have some who choose to grow long sideburns well below the ear, but don't seem to want further facial hair in terms of a moustache or beard.  We have lots of variety now from the military 'short back and sides' to hair, there and everywhere

The 70s are back you think, Mike? So I'm expecting Hawaiian shirts, misery!😏

Thanks, Sister Pauline. Do you mean Benin Republic (the country in West Africa) or do you mean Benin City (a city in Midwestern Nigeria)?

Possibly, either location. From another source: "Dembo Sickles was born 14 May 1762 in Abidjan, Abidjan Department, Ivory Coast and died 15 October 1845 Three Rivers, Prince Edward Island," A student in Maine from Benin Republic told me the name Dengbo was common in her homeland. I was just talking on the phone to a sister. We were imagining meeting ancestors in Jehovah's promised New System. Any suggestions for searching African records would be greatly appreciated.

Very likely then it would be Ivory Coast or Benin Republic. Oh wow, that would mean that your husband and kids are African....

Frère Jackson peut porter son béret ou sa barbiche, mais je serais totalement trébuché par les deux. Je plaisante, cela ne me dérangerait pas du tout. Il devra peut-être déménager dans une colonie d'artistes à ce stade.

True, all it would need is an easel installed on the quays of Paris or in Montmartre

Now all the congregations of the world will begin to undergo great changes in appearance.

It's already happened in our congregation.  A/V group was almost in chaos so many people were sick for so long.  Most of the brothers came back with beards.  Now us hairless chins are an endangered species.  😂

Funny story AND YES this did actually happen in MY congregation. I heard it firsthand.

Two brothers both with beards talk to a return visit. At the end of the conversation, they invite him to the meeting. He says, "yes, but can I come clean shaven?" They both look at each other and giggle a little and say, "Yes, of course. beards are just a new thing for us."

AHHH - life is interesting, eh.

We aren't Amish....:beard3::lol1:

When one brother, who has had a beard for many years, was asked about his beard his reply always was "it was given me by my father, as was the rest of my hair"

However, we are going to see that people in the community find it strange, though, that a number of our brothers, previously clean shaven for many years are now sporting facial hair. Someone wondered if the brother calling was still one of Jehovah's Witnesses or had left.

You can tell because we allow hair on the upper lip, Amish do not.

Interesting information about that.
