Silly question about mens shoes

Recommended Posts

These types of shoes seem to be real popular at our meetings, especially amongst the elders for some reason. To me, for what it's worth they seem really casual almost like you were going golfing. How many out there have shoes like these?  I'm very conservative when it comes to shoes, now for socks I like a little color!

Very popular in my congregation, even on the stage. Five or six bros wearing them every meeting.

Must be a Pacific Northwest thing Jerry. How many pairs do you have?

Note the same description of the shoe.
Styles change. Much like women no longer wear hats and gloves and brothers now have beards and and sisters have slacks…🙂

We have a few brothers and sisters wearing Sketchers, usually in cloth or knited covering and brothers generally wear plain black, but a couple of sisters do have a few bright coloured ones.

I know they wear them for comfort (because they are getting up in miles), and wouldn't blame them wearing them for witnessing and carts, because they are on their feet. But at the meetings when you are generally sitting down for most of the time? There has to be some balance to this. It wouldn't look too bad if they were polished or faux leather, but when they look too much like sneakers, it seems to be a tad too casual.

I wear myself comfortable soft sole shoes, but they are usually polished leather up top like the below.

I own many pairs of Sketchers (most of them very colourful) and I simply LOVE wearing them - in my free time.

I would never dare to wear them at the meetings, they´re too casual/sporty in my opinion. And even though I generally agree to your reasoning regarding witnessing and carts where lots of standing/walking is required, I personally still wouldn´t wear my sketchers. I have 2 or 3 pairs of very comfortable (but not "too sporty" looking) shoes for these occasions.

I remember a talk that the brother delivered and he asked the question that "Are you whole-souled to Jehovah, or do you have a hole in your soul?"
