US Election Outcome

Recommended Posts

I’ve been reading this thread, and I’ve been thinking about the issue of neutrality.  It got me thinking who is behind all the political systems; we know the answer. Could it be that someone is testing our neutrality, trying to slyly erode our trust in Jehovah? What better way than to have someone who is so easy to hate run for office, when the matter of fact is that both parties are immoral and deceitful, one is just better at hiding it. I will admit that this election revealed some deficiencies in my neutrality and trust in Jehovah, something that is now on my list of things that I’m praying about and definitely going to work on. Recently, I was having a discussion with one of my relatives and they mentioned that they overheard conversations with some sisters thinking that since a certain person was elected that it might be easier for P&S to come about. Part of me understands their thought process, but are we really trusting in Jehovah? We are discounting him if we think it matters who is in office. He can maneuver things in any possible outcome. Hopefully, we all take notice of our shortcomings in this area and pray to Jehovah to strengthen our resolve not to take sides. Because we all want to support the only answer to mankind’s problems, God’s Kingdom.

the rest of it is one big joke that we can laugh at,

Quoting myself, you can't read the saying on my cap but it says " What Me Worry " it's from an old Mad magazine from back in the 60's with Alfred E. Newman making use of humor.( laughter is the best medicine )

Which, by definition, is not neutral.

Shawn....very few on this topic have been neutral in the sense of not favoring one or the other.   It’s mostly been a Trump bashing therapy session.

Just my opinion.... but acknowledging that one side may hold more practical views in certain contexts does not necessarily compromise neutrality. Anyone with even a little knowledge will form an opinion to some degree just naturally.   My views are based on specific policies or outcomes rather than loyalty to any political party itself.   Or favoring a person   color, gender, personality etc..

I’m pointing out the old  "Better of Two Evils” View.

Both parties and candidates are part of Satan’s system and have significant flaws, but that doesn’t mean that one side may not present less harmful or more tolerable options, and make life a little easy for it’s citizens.  I’m pointing out  while both sides may be  corrupt and immoral in different ways,  they are not equal in competence to govern.

The “iron” is stronger and more stable than the “clay”......that’s just a fact, not opinion.

That’s how I was trying to connect what’s happening today within a scriptural discussion.

But it’s become Therapy for the Trump haters.

In this sense, neutrality doesn't mean complete indifference to everything  It’s obvious that  there is not complete indifference here. But it doesn’t necessarily mean we are putting our trust or allegiance to these doomed Kingdoms.

When the brothers tell us don't even “think” about it? That is good advice however it is an idealist statement. That would be best thing to do......absolutely. However is it realistic?

For maybe a few. But as this topic so well illustrates.....people naturally form opinions.

We are advised not to even form an opinion. Why? .....because it can Lead taking a side and then breaking our neutrality. But I don’t believe just naturally forming an opinion on which side governs in a more practical way means I have abandoned Jehovah and taken sides with the world as soon as I form an opinion.  That’s a little far fetched.  The concern of the GB is that we don’t get lured in....and that is a concern for some. But just expressing an opinion does not make a person disloyal. If the president tells his VP that out of 2 of his arch enemies,  in his opinion China’s Communist government is much more efficient and practical that Russia’s Government....... Is he now disloyal to the US? Does it mean he has taken sides? Hardly.

That being said....I warned very early in this topic it was a bad idea and should be closed becasue I knew it would just become a Trump bashing session.....It’s a perfect reflection of what you see in the main stream media.....and the media is certainly not neutral.

If we can’t relate this topic to a bible discussion......what is the point?  Other than the therapeutic benefit some get.

Cookies and Milk might be a better option.:lol1:

And yet you keep coming back to argue your points.

Dawn thank you for that invitation to leave.  It wasn’t my intension to interrupt the Trump bashing session.  But just curious.....Why are you here?   Do you have any opinion  about the US election.....other than bashing Trump?

 It goes both ways.

There’s an expression that this makes me think of….He who smelt it dealt it.
In other words, your defending what you see as “trump bashing” can also come across as not neutral.
Your need to defend that is what is telling.

There shouldn't be bashing or defending.
