The JOY of learning - random musing before sleep

Recommended Posts

So laying in bed last night, just before sleep, I was thinking about the fact about how humans are absolutely helpless at birth and must be taught EVERYTHING (basically).  Every other creature on earth has built-in instinct, but the most we get is how to doggy paddle if a baby is thrown into the water.  :whistling:  Everything else must be learned.

So then I thought.....WHY?

Why did Jehovah choose to leave out the "instinct" for doing things?  Why do we have to learn EVERYTHING?

Then I got to thinking about the JOY that babies get once they learn something.  Once they figure something out.  Once they can do something on their own.  Can you picture the smiles and happiness on babies' faces upon learning something new?  Even young kids....you see their eyes open up wide and the huge smiles that form once they "get it" as you teach them how to do something.  And of course, we get pleasure as well as we see them get it.

So what does that tell you?  We certainly have a happy God, who wants us to be happy too!!

What else does that tell you????

Don't stop learning.  It was built into us.  It is the most primitive, most basic source of joy (besides food :whistling:).  It may get harder as we get older, but we can certainly still learn much, even in advanced age.

Don't forget one of the first sources of pure joy you ever had.  Seek knowledge.  Seek understanding.  We were designed to do that...

Just my musings.  ^_^

I like the happiness factor. Nice thought.
The insight book says this about thinking abilities

The Hebrew term mezim·mahʹ is used to designate thinking ability, or the ability to give wise and thoughtful consideration to a matter, based on thorough knowledge (Pr 5:2; 8:12);

Since we were made in God’s image, it stands to reason he wanted us to have thoughtful purpose in life and how we decide to do things.

Jer 29:11-“For I well know the thoughts I am thinking toward you, declares Jehovah, thoughts of peace, and not calamity, to give you a future and a hope.”

Psalm 56:3-“When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.”
Romans 8:38-”For I am convinced...”
