The S-287 lists principles for creating passwords for the KH computer and Wi-Fi system in point #6.

I am probably wrong but I thought we had even more robust instructions refering to specifically the passwords for the Wi-Fi system.  Maybe I am remembering a past version of a document or something because I can't find it.  I thought we had some instructions with some of the standard lower case and uppercase letters, special characters and numbers, etc along with some of the newer best practices.

Does anyone know of password guidlines newer than the S-287 7/24?

The S-287 Cybersecurity Guidelines is the latest guidelines on this topic. We do not have any specific recommendation such as mandating requiring specific special characters or combination of different casings.

Actually, some cybersecurity experts argue against setting such recommendations—The primary goal of a more secure password system is password diversity. Enforcing specific laws help hackers to guess the passwords more easily.

For example, this is what Microsoft writes in their Password Policy Recommendations: “Password complexity requirements reduce key space and cause users to act in predictable ways, doing more harm than good. . . . Some complexity requirements even prevent users from using secure and memorable passwords, and force them into coming up with less secure and less memorable passwords.” [https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/admin/misc/password-policy-recommendations]

Every one has an experience making a password that goes like “Jw19141914!” just because it said “you need at least one special character in your password.”

Our WiFi at our KH is a hidden one, so not only they need to know what the password is, they also need to know the SSID (Service Set Identifier or WiFi broadcast name) as well. Otherwise, it just shows when being scanned as "Hidden Network".

The only reason why we have limited access to our internet, as we are on a 4G prepaid plan with a set amount of data to be used. If we used the "NBN" or copper wires connections, the connections speeds are very bad in our area unless you sign up to a business plan which costs around AU$150pm. For a congregation of about 50 or so, itis  just too expensive, when we can pay about AU$350 for the whole year and get very good data download and upload speeds (60/40Gbs Down/Up) over the 4G network, whereas you are struggling to get 10/2.5Gbps on a good day over a copper connection. And as most people stream their entertainment these days, at night when brothers use the copper connection, their connections at times come over very sketchy.

As for passwords, we don't use scriptures at all or year(s) or similar. Ours is 10 characters long, and it is a combination of all things pertaining to our congregation.

According to some reports, companies (like google and Microsoft) will begin requiring passkeys soon...😞

How will that affect things?

Jer 29:11-“For I well know the thoughts I am thinking toward you, declares Jehovah, thoughts of peace, and not calamity, to give you a future and a hope.”

Psalm 56:3-“When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.”
Romans 8:38-”For I am convinced...”
