There seems to be conflicting information about how many were involved, when and where it occurred.

"A total of twelve (12) persons lost their lives with eight other sustaining injuries in an accident that occurred along the Owerri/Onitsha Road Hill in Imo State.

The State Police Command has launched an investigation into the accident which took place on Saturday 7th September, 2025, around 9pm after Njaba Bridge."

"No fewer than 15 members of the Jehovah’s Witness congregation have died in a road accident at Awomama Bridge in Imo State.

The crash, which occurred around 6:45 p.m. on Monday, happened when a trailer driving against traffic collided with a bus conveying the victims."

Doing some research, it appears that the Awomama Bridge can also be referred to as the Njaba Bridge since it crosses the Njaba River.

The story appears in several Nigerian news publications with some using the term "about 15" ... it could be that the exact number may not be official yet and could still change if some of the injured die.

In any event, the tragedy does seem to be a real news event and the congregation could use our prayers.
