An cautious approach like that sounds likely if they were doing this of their own will. But it's really God's Will that they're carrying out. Jehovah utterly abhors Babylon the Great, and wants the UN to "make her devastated and naked, [...] eat up her flesh and completely burn her with fire" (Re 17:16). Does it seem likely that Jehovah would use such a cautious, indirect approach to destroy her? No, it's more reasonable to assume that He will give the UN both the desire and the boldness to launch a direct attack on false religion.

We can't really say. When the Roman armies left Jerusalem mid-attack, did they think they had a good reason? Just because it's from Jehovah doesn't mean it defies all logic.

If the thought is to remove religion.... then why tax something that has been removed.... how would that work?..... or am I not understanding this...

Taxation would destroy Religion. All religious organizations, including ours, enjoy tax-exempt status. If the Powers That Be ever decided to charge back-taxes, everything would be bankrupt in a week. Including the JW organizations, incidentally. France tried that some years ago. If they'd succeeded, the money to continue the printing/translation/infrastructure of the French Branch would have ceased to exist at a stroke.

But when the 'Final Stage' happens, I imagine the Brothers would keep working. We wouldn't need to keep the printers and translators and Halls working for long. During Covid, we practically went off-grid; holding Meetings at home.

Nobody gets rich working full-time in the JW Service. Not even the Governing Body. In an odd way, that alone would keep the Witnesses going when all other religion has folded.

For sure, megachurch pastors would bend the knee to keep their millions

Our previous pictures and illustrations indicated an armed force involved in destroying BTG.

I notice that has not change.

The idea that the 10 horns (nations) will devastate BtG has not changed.

However, I note the difference highlighted in 2 recent illustrations is that the "order" to devastate BtG is correctly attributed to the UN.

How this relates to the declaration of P&S remains to be seen. {imo}

I never imagined the governments storming churches with soldiers because they wanted to destroy the religion.

However, taxing a religion by revoking their exempt status, would put the religion out of business.  The properties and bank accounts could be seized and sold to satisfy tax debt.

Religions that might agitate and protest could be held criminally responsible.

I imagine  the UN plundering the wealth of religions within the framework of existing ,or possibly new, laws.  In its Pact for the Future,  items 47 - 52 include the statement "We will accelerate the reform of the international financial architecture (ie; religions should pay taxes like other businesses?).

Item 54: "We will strengthen the international response to complex global shocks".  Complex global shocks have a disproportionate impact on the poorest and most vulnerable people in the world and usually have disastrous consequences for sustainable development and prosperity".

While the poor suffer, and every government is in debt, religions sit on vast wealth and resources.

Pact for the Future was adopted by consensus.  No state objected.  The UN is primed for the fulfillment of Rev 17:17.  What they will do with their absolute authority will be very interesting to witness.

GLOBAL DEBT that may initiate the U.N. to tax religious organizations.

  • 2020: Global debt surged dramatically due to pandemic support, reaching around $226 trillion (IMF) or 331% of GDP (IIF) by Q1, a massive jump from late 2019.
  • 2021: Continued increases pushed total global debt to a new record of over $303 trillion, notes the World Economic Forum.
  • 2022: Debt slightly increased to about $305 trillion, according to Wikipedia.
  • 2023: Global debt continued its upward trend, with the IMF's Global Debt Monitor 2024 showing shifts, including falling private debt in some areas.
  • 2024: Debt crossed $318 trillion by year-end, driven by government borrowing, notes the Institute of International Finance (IIF).
  • 2025 (to Q3): A fresh peak of nearly $346 trillion was reached, with over $26 trillion added, primarily from government borrowing in both mature and emerging markets, according to the IIF's Global Debt Monitor
