JW Pressroom on Social Media

Recommended Posts

The verified badge on Instagram has been removed, and the links have been updated. We’ll see what happens next. Things seems to have calmed down.

It’s the end of the month, so you know gotta pay those subscriptions. 😅

I noticed same however according to DownDetector there have been IG problems the last 24hrs - as I have had too - so possibly could that be the reason? Guess we will have to wait and see. 🤔😊

I am confused. Why is there another one with only 71 followers but same handle(jw_pressroom)? 🧐

That is a fake account. There is an extra “s” in the handle. Please report it to instagram as fake/impersonating account.

Can false reporting temporarily take away the verified badge on ig?

It will be a shame if WHQ decides to stop the pilot program because of the imposters, but that is the purpose of a pilot program...

I was in a call with the Office of Public Information and the team handling the social media accounts are completely aware of such fake accounts and are working on it. They are also evaluating about bringing back the verified badge again.

However, we will only know the result based on what we are seeing on the social media accounts within the next several days or weeks.

For us, we just need to make sure we post correct information in this topic. Because search engines and AI searches are using our comments from this topic as their source of information.

Instagram has the authority to evaluate each account and can remove a verified badge if it determines that further review is needed. If everything is verified again, the checkmark may return.

Another possibility is that the OPI social media team adjusted something on the account, such as the profile details or links, which may have placed the badge on hold while Instagram reviews the changes. Once Instagram verifies the account updates, the verified checkmark may return.

Did they say why it's gone?

No, unfortunately. I didn’t ask because I called to provide feedback and details to the current situation outside of their circle.
