The organization is less likely to do this because they will have to pay for this ad to be shown and they are not cheap depending on how big the scope and spread of the ad. Our public ministry already handles the spread of good news so we do not need to spend money on something that is costly and isn't beneficial.

Admittedly, it's a been few years since I left the industry (Adwords/Adsense), but you can/could get very cheap clicks depending on the targeted keyword/topic. I'm talking cents per click.

I would not be surprised at all if it later turns out that this was an approved trial. At first I was uncomfortable with the idea, as I was with Insta/TikTok at first, but if the FDS decides to expand the reach of jw.org, then who am I to disagree lol. They have told us to expect the unexpected as we draw closer to the GT

But, atm, I don't see any obvious tracking script/pixels etc, and if the brothers were testing, I'd think they'd want to track performance/visitors etc.

It isnt a topic of conversation, after the initial surprise or even perplexity (or flatout denial "we would never do that") the target audience became clear and we aint it.

And I get the reposting drive for growing reach and giving legitimacy / authenticity but I think it also kind of blurs what we would really want to know: How much reach do have in our target group? If those metrics get inflated by us .... arn't they becoming vanity metrics? We cant ask the algorithm please filter out everyone of us ....

Are most of you guys who use ig/tt reposting the jw_pressroom posts?

how do those in your congregation feel? I’ve noticed many in my cong have not even looked at our official socials yet

tl'dr: I feel it'll help reach more people in areas that may not get any interaction from witnesses. I got an invite somewhere (Cant remember if it was convention or memorial) when i was 27 at a gas station,  I was maybe 32 when I saw my first cart and 34 when i had a JW knock on my door for the first time. I've heard of JWs most of my life but never had any actual interaction with them (to my knowledge*) until i became older, and this is in the USA, i think we probably have the most witnesses in a country than all the rest?. As for my congregation, no one as far as i know has talked about it.

*High school friend of mine is a witness but i never knew until i ran into her two years ago at the regional.

I repost from time to time but i only have like 5 followers so it doesnt really go out to many people on my end. Personally, i feel that the world is pretty much all on the internet right now, and you'll catch more people online than door to door (I'm NOT saying that we should get rid of DTD or that it's not useful/beneficial), most of my positive experiences have been via reaching out on social media to friends i've had, especially those in countries where people may not have heard of JWs. NGL I'm jealous of the ones that go door to door in different countries where the JW name isn't as hated :/.

I have not reposted but I know of some who have. My circle is pretty limited, plus, private. Also, it has not been a topic of conversation with the friends. I'm thinking it is still a 'touchy' subject and no way am I going to bring it up. 😁 Well ... I would be selective if I were to bring it up.
