The light turned yellow, just in front of him. He did the right thing, stopping at the crosswalk, even though he could have beaten the red light by accelerating through the intersection.

The tailgating woman was furious and honked her horn, screaming in frustration, as she missed her chance to get through the intersection, dropping her cell phone and makeup.

As she was still in mid-rant, she heard a tap on her window and looked up into the face of a very serious police officer. The officer ordered her to exit her car with her hands up.

He took her to the police station where she was searched, fingerprinted, photographed, and placed in a holding cell.

After a couple of hours, a policeman approached the cell and opened the door. She was escorted back to the booking desk where the arresting officer was waiting with her personal effects.

He said, ''I'm very sorry for this mistake. You see, I pulled up behind your car while you were blowing your horn, flipping off the guy in front of you and cussing a blue streak at him. I noticed the 'What Would Jesus Do' bumper sticker, the 'Choose Life' license plate holder, the 'Follow Me to Sunday-School' bumper sticker, and the chrome-plated Christian fish emblem on the trunk, so naturally... .I assumed you had stolen the car.''

Reminds me of a sister (Her husband served in the congregation) at a congregation we used to attend,  One morning, running a little late for field service, she is hurrying to the Kingdom Hall when a car in front of her is slowing her progress.  When she finally gets to a point where she can pass, she does, while giving the finger to the driver as she goes around.

Arriving at the hall she is talking to my wife as they enter together.  The CO and his with arrive....yep, it was them!  The Co's wife says "Honey you need to calm down, not all of us know where we are going around here"

I always wondered what kind of conversation ever took place between the CO and the husband?

Sheesh. It could have been worse. It could have been a bible student on the way to the hall. Plus, sorry, I cannot imagine one of Jehovah's servants giving any one an obscene jester. Period. Or it could be the next door this person knocked on.

I was visiting a dear sister in a convalescent home. She hated being there. She was acting a bit feisty . I asked her if they knew she was a Jehovah's Witness. Yes, she said. I told her, please don't make them slam the door on us. She was a kind soul at her wits end. We never know who we may talk to next about Jehovah. Never know....

I want to age without sharp corners, and have an obedient heart!

And subsequently an elder perhaps. Obscene jesting is something that needs corrected.

Can you imagine being known as the sister who gave the CO the finger? What a legacy :P

It happens more often than you would even care to imagine I'm afraid. We get reminders all the time regarding proper Christian conduct, and even an occasional article that addresses things like road rage.

Or. Like cited above, sometimes there could be extenuating circumstances, like mental illness, at play.

And still others just have their old personality still clinging to them, difficult to shake off. A brother around here works in construction and slips the F-Bomb from time to time, but always feels terrible for doing so.

Some people have a much harder time molding their personality than others. The obscene gesture made by the sister shows that she had serious rage issues. When raised in that kind of environment a person may not even know they are like that. Yeah, like how could they not know? Right? Yet if this was 'normal' in their household and they do not strip off that old personality and put on the new it is of to no avail that they try.

Like anyone with a serious character flaw, we must first realize that we have a problem. An alcoholic cannot be helped to change until they have a realization that this is THEM! Admission is the first part of coming to grips with a problem. Only then, can the person begin making changes. Only then can they go to Jehovah for correction and help. It is then that Jehovah can help the person. We have all seen the bumper sticker that says, "God is my co-pilot." In reality is should say, "God is my PILOT!"

The level of that what called "mental illness" can be very different, some people even never had being diagnosed as mentally ill.

It is pretty hard to determine who is "normal"  and who is ill in this crazy world.

Would be nice to have some kind of bumper stickers on us to show the level of our illness?

For instance red stickers for absolutely ill, yellow for just a little crazy etc

...absolute rubbish...

Ever since this happened my wife will say "so-and-so just drove past and I waved" and I'll  ask "How many fingers were you waving with?" :perplexed:

Happily,  this happened over 20 years ago, and about 5 years ago we saw the family and the sister was doing well and I believe pioneering...nice adjustment. (better legacy)
