  1. I have no words for this! The more you read the more 'other planet' it gets! Italian teenager Carlo Acutis set to become the first millennial saint The canonisation of Carlo Acutis ..... will take place on September 7 .... ..... died from leukaemia in 2006, will be declared a saint ..... expected to be attended by thousands of young people. .... 15 when he died ..... he used his computing skills to spread awareness of the Catholic faith by setting up a website that documented reports of miracles. The church’s sainthood process normally requires that candidates have two miracles attributed to them .... https://www.perthnow.com.au/news/religion-and-belief/italian-teenager-carlo-acutis-set-to-become-the-first-millennial-saint-c-19030977?utm_source=sfmc&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=PerthNow+-+News&utm_id=177458&sfmc_id=17567167
  2. I believe brother Niel means the nations that Brother Jackson referred to 'as the ones that have never been a part of the 7 world powers' . English doesn't always translate perfectly and so, if it's possible that it is not a person's mother tongue, I try and make the effort to understand the meaning, not just read the words.
  3. Brother Jackson doesn't actually say 'in unison' or 'in an instant' in the video, though he does say that it won't be a long drawn out process that takes a long period of time. However, looking back at Acts of God in the past, for example the Israelites leaving Egypt or the fall of Babylon, they certainly did happen, literally, overnight, so maybe ...... I believe it was Brother Jackson in past who said 'expect the unexpected'.
  4. In addition to Guterres statement: UN needed ‘more than ever before’ says Germany’s candidate to head General Assembly Her vision is grounded in the theme “Better Together” which she weaved throughout her remarks, arguing this is no time to despair. “These crises and challenges weigh heavy upon us as the international community. But they also show the United Nations, our United Nations, is needed more than ever before,” she said. She added that the UN needs to be “fit for the future” and “fit for purpose” ..... the need for a UN that delivers results. “People must feel that our work makes a real difference in their daily lives,” she said. ...... the need for close cooperation with the Security Council and the Peacebuilding Commission in promoting a more peaceful world. “You cannot sustain lasting peace without ensuring that there is no shortage of food, that people have jobs, that children go to school, that women are safe,” she said. .....third priority calls for a UN that is truly inclusive and embraces everyone, https://news.un.org/en/story/2025/05/1163296?utm_source=UN+News+-+Newsletter&utm_campaign=9a6b381f3a-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2025_05_16_12_00&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_fdbf1af606-9a6b381f3a-108071566 As brother Glenn said in his comment, Jehovah will have a role in this, which is a major one as it is he who puts the 'one thought' into their collective heads to hand over their power to the UN. But in preparation for this and unbeknownst to themselves, the nations with Satan at the helm, are manoeuvering themselves into position ready for this act of God. Here is the link to the Rev 17:17 clarification video from the AM: https://www.jw.org/en/library/videos/#en/mediaitems/VODPgmEvtAnnMtg/pub-jwb-120_10_VIDEO It starts at about the 10.15 minute mark.
  5. A secular article on the 8th Anniversary of being declared an extremist organisation in Russia. 525 Jehovah’s Witnesses have been sentenced in Russia since the group was banned as “extremist” in 2017 On the 8th anniversary of the Russian Supreme Court's decision to designate the Jehovah’s Witnesses as an “extremist organization,” the human rights organization Memorial has published new data on the Kremlin’s persecution of the religious group. As of now, 607 Jehovah’s Witnesses are under active prosecution by Russian authorities. Of these, 184 are currently deprived of their liberty — held in pretrial detention centers, penal colonies, correctional facilities, or under house arrest. Memorial recognizes these individuals as political prisoners. Ten Jehovah’s Witnesses have died during the course of their investigation, trial, or while serving their sentences. 67-year-old Valery Baylo, who passed away on March 21, 2024, at Pretrial Detention Center ..... 67-year-old Valery Baylo, who passed away on March 21, 2024, at Pretrial Detention Center https://theins.ru/en/news/280802
  6. You can track it on this website. http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDQ65002.shtml http://www.bom.gov.au/qld/forecasts/brisbane.shtml The Gold Coast is already feeling effects and loss of power is quite widespread.
  7. Thinking of my brothers and sisters in Brisbane and South down to Northern NSW as cyclone Alfred approaches. Not a huge cyclone but it will hit a densely populated area. Take care and stay safe. You are in my thoughts and prayers. ❤️
  8. Although the word 'churches' is in the link @Robinson shared in her post above, I don't know that the subject matter, her comment, or any of the subsequent ones, are related to religion. Shouldn't the subject of what Trump wants to do regarding birthright citizenship and immigration be under its own topic?
  9. I have Misophonia though I only discovered that it had a name fairly recently. I used to think it was just me being grumpy so tried hard to keep my responses to the feelings under control. My children didn't need me to tell them to stop playing basketball because the bouncing sound of the ball was driving me crazy. Though they did get gently stopped from finger tapping, leg jiggling under the table,(misokinesia - a related condition) and leaving taps dripping among other thing. Sometimes I feel giving these things names and public air time allows people to use their condition as an excuse for negative attitudes and behaviour. The onus is not only on others to exercise compassion and empathy but also on the sufferer to exercise a level of self control over their responses.
  10. Haha! Fortunately for me, I don't like the translucent taskbar, so that bit doesn't worry me. As soon as I saw the Win 10 start button and menu, I knew I'd have to change it, so I went on a search and found Classic Shell - which is what I'm actually still using. I'll eventually get around to installing the latest version from Open Shell. I didn't copy you - it's just that great minds and all that .... 😁😉
  11. I use Open Shell and my laptop looks like Win 7. I started using it when I updated my old laptop to Win 10 and have used it ever since.
  12. This is not about a normal Windows security update. I have received a Windows 11 version update - Windows 11 version 24H2. I am just wondering if any of our techie bros or sis who already use this update could tell me what benefit there would be to updating to this version or if there is a big difference between this version and the 2023 one. Among other things, is the UI any different and is it possible to turn off the AI features introduced in this update. Thanks for any help before I make a decision on whether to download it or not.
  13. A great, unbiased article from the Moscow Times about our brothers' persecution in Russia. https://www.themoscowtimes.com/2024/10/14/persecuted-en-masse-russias-jehovahs-witnesses-expect-to-outlast-putins-regime-a86680
  14. I have been thinking about you dear brothers and sisters that may be affected by this tremendous storm. My thoughts and prayers for your safety and endurance are with you. ❤️
  15. When I was growing up in 50s and 60s England, streaky bacon was the only bacon I knew of that existed and the only bacon we ever ate. When it became known as American bacon I have no idea, but I first noticed it when I went home in 2011. It was always known as streaky bacon when I was young, and you could have it smoked or green - which didn't mean it was mouldy, just not smoked. 😅 Back bacon is a fairly modern phenomenon in my experience, designed by the commercial system for those who are averse to animal fats but still want to say they like bacon. 🙄🤣 Streaky bacon is freely available here in Oz and still just called that - streaky - but it sits alongside the back bacon. Like Amanda, we have honey streaky available as well.
  16. I'm currently in Tasmania. They've had the worst storms in 26 years. So much water everywhere with lakes where fields should be, trees down making some roads impassable and power has been out across the state, but particularly, I think, in the Northern part where we were. On the positive side, rivers are flowing abundantly, the waterfalls are stunning and everywhere is green and lush.
  17. Thanks for mentioning this Lucy. I have noticed this too. Definitely interesting. This is also a very strange winter we're having with some unusual weather patterns. Watching and waiting! 👀👀
  18. After hearing all the shock and horror about this being a depiction of the last supper, I happened to be listening to a discussion about this on the radio in my car yesterday and discovered that it not not what everyone, from tiktokkers to the Catholic Church, assumed it to be. It's interesting how it is human nature to jump to conclusions, but what the theme actually was, is a lot more logical than thinking it was the last supper, in view of the fact that the games started in Greece. As brother Paul said in his comment above, people will see what they want to see. ........ was in fact inspired by a 17th-century Dutch painting of the Greek Olympian gods, art historians have said. Leonardo da Vinci’s much-parodied The Last Supper portrays the final meal Jesus is said to have taken with his apostles. However, the creative director of the opening ceremony, Thomas Jolly, denied the scene, titled “Festivity”, was based on the painting. “That wasn’t my inspiration,” he told BFM TV. “I think it was pretty clear. There’s Dionysus who arrives at the table … Why is he there? Because he’s the god of feasting, of wine, and the father of Sequana, the goddess of the River Seine.” The idea, Jolly said, was “more to have a big pagan party linked to the gods of Olympus, Olympian, Olympianism … https://www.theguardian.com/sport/article/2024/jul/29/olympic-last-supper-scene-based-painting-greek-gods-art-experts#:~:text=There's Dionysus who arrives at,goddess of the River Seine.”
  19. Maybe it's just the big banks that stopped issuing cheque books then. I still have a 'cheque account' but no cheque book to go with it. It's now just an account in my online banking. I probably wouldn't use it if I had it, though, I pay all my bills online these days. I also use cash and keep some on hand. It's useful stuff to have around and I like to use it. The 'cashless society' bods need to understand that it's an important commodity.
  20. This is a plus for those who are fighting against the Australian cashless society push. Some Coles were accepting only cash payments and I'm sure there were others doing the same. Only businesses use cheques in Australia. Cheques were phased out for the man on the street many years ago, so no physically going to the bank to cash a cheque here. The powers that be need to learn a lesson from this situation.
  21. Let's hope he doesn't confuse Zelensky with Putin. Ooopsies! 🙄 President Joe Biden mistakenly referred to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as “President Putin” during a NATO event Thursday— https://www.forbes.com/sites/antoniopequenoiv/2024/07/11/biden-calls-ukraines-zelensky-president-putin-at-nato-event/
  22. Sadly it's at 4am here and I need my beauty sleep. I think this would be very interesting. I did a physical tour of the BM with the brothers waaaay back in 1998 when I was home for a visit, and did a couple of virtual ones during covid restrictions. You normally have to register due to numbers but because the zoom details are publicly available this one may be available for unrestricted numbers. Yes they are free but it is always nice to make a donation to our hardworking pioneer brothers. 😊
