  1. Well that didn't take long. "A sea of protesters gathered outside the Supreme Court Friday, one of many rallies planned across the country after a historically consequential ruling from the high court ended the constitutional right to abortion. " "Elsewhere, abortion-rights advocates in cities including Chicago, Philadelphia, Denver, San Francisco, Portland, Seattle and New York City planned protests for Friday evening. There were also protests planned in Florida, Missouri, Georgia and Texas." https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2022/06/24/roe-v-wade-abortion-rights-protests/7723620001/
  2. Can't wait to see it! This sounds like a lot of work. Anyone know how long the expect the project to take?
  3. I wonder why this is such a thing here in the US. It does happen in other countries, but not very often. They are in single digits while we are at 288. Here is a chart if anyone is interested. https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/school-shootings-by-country
  4. Here we go again. 🙄 At least there is a known vaccine for this one though.
  5. Very old brother prayed for protection from Satan and his whores. Pretty sure that should have been hoards.
  6. If they do any of this extra stuff with gay marriage and contraception people will lose their minds over here. Anyone want to go half on an uninhabited island? 😄 "President Joe Biden predicted Wednesday that if the Supreme Court officially overturns Roe v. Wade's holding of a federal constitutional right to abortion, the court will next look to strike down other landmark cases guaranteeing Americans' rights, from same-sex marriage to contraception access." https://www.cnn.com/2022/05/11/politics/joe-biden-supreme-court-abortion-same-sex-marriage/index.html
  7. This is what I thought too. I appreciate knowing that there is potential for churches being attacked for a different reason. Where I live I'm surrounded by more churches than I can even count, some close to my house. It's a one lane in and out kind of town, so there could be safety issues under the right circumstances.
  8. I was just chatting with a friend about this the other night. This is so big that the potential for wild protests would have been there anyway, but people are already riled up anyway due to their "rights" being violated by mask mandates. Recent events have demonstrated what people can get away with during protests/riots. It's like a powder keg over here. Protests or not, the end result will be more people hating religion. I'm curious about something though. Have they been working on this for a while now? With all that's going on at the moment, it seems like a strange time to add on an additional issue.
  9. More religious news. Their stuff is just non-stop. "Violating Al-Aqsa and Jerusalem means a regional, religious war,” he said. "Whoever makes the decision to allow this photo to be repeated, the violation of Al-Aqsa — he has decided to allow the violation of thousands of synagogues all across the world,” Sinwar said. https://www.timesofisrael.com/sinwar-warns-israel-hamas-wont-hesitate-to-take-any-steps-if-al-aqsa-is-violated/
  10. I once heard someone say to a group of people that they did not bother to watch the monthly broadcasts, adding that it wasn't a sin to skip them either. Alrighty then. It's still a tad bit surprising to hear that there are people who don't routinely check the website. I check, but don't do it all day like I used to. I already know that if it's anything super interesting, someone here will have a whole thread going within minutes of it being posted. 😅
  11. "With the Eastern Orthodox Easter approaching this Sunday, similar tensions are rippling through the church’s more than 200 million faithful, concentrated in eastern and southern Europe. Around the world, the war is dividing national churches, parishes and even families as they reassess relations with Patriarch..." Religion is in the news every single day now. And not just one. They are fighting over there every day in Jerusalem over that religious site they are always fighting about, Muslims are violently protesting in Sweeden because someone threatened to burn a Koran, there's all this stuff between the Russian and Ukraine church leaders, then the Pope keeps popping up.. saw some news report yesterday where Ukraine was asking him directly to do something. "Prayers are not enough." Maybe someone older than me knows otherwise, but I have never seen religion and all the problems it causes on the front page of the news like this before. It feels like the world is a shaken 2 liter with the cap loosening up.
  12. You are so right about this. One of my friends gets to thinking way too much when a brother starts talking to her. It's not that he's doing anything wrong, she just reads way too much into the conversation. I tell her over and over not to get too carried away, he could just be friendly. But she mentally buys her wedding dress and imagines their future together, only to be totally crushed when he ends up with someone else. It's sad. Me on the other hand. I'm dense. There was a brother who was a socializing routinely within our group. After some time he started making more of an effort to initiate interactions with me. I'm friendly, chatty, thought nothing of it. In the very end when I had to let him know that I would not be getting married on this side of Armageddon, he looked like I punched him. To say that I felt horrible would be an understatement. He really didn't want anything to do with me after that, which was painful but understandable. I am A LOT more careful while socializing with brothers now.
  13. How about this?? "Many Canadians now believe Catholicism, evangelical Christianity and Islam are more damaging to society than beneficial, a new survey shows, as people across the country continue to turn their backs on religion." “Broader society still is not fully comfortable and fully clear about what to do with religion, and therefore they show some signs of discomfort,” Abdie Kazemipur, a University of Calgary sociologist and the chair in ethnic studies, explains." https://globalnews.ca/news/8759564/canada-religion-society-perceptions/
  14. Did you see this?? This is the weirdest thing ever. I do not understand at all what Putin has to do with a church in Jerusalem. Other than this, yes, I saw where there were clashes at some religious site that got pretty ugly. This seems to happen a lot, unfortunately. https://www.jpost.com/israel-news/article-704490
  15. The waters are drying up everywhere but Sweeden, apparently. Have you all seen the news about some politician saying he was going to burn a Koran? People have lost their minds over there. Watching video clips of them setting cars on fire, throwing rocks at police ect. made me think of the GT. If they are doing all of this over someone threatening to burn a book, what will they be acting like when BTG goes down?
  16. Feels like I just read the TLDR version of the book of Revelation. 😅 In all seriousness it does seem like they are ramping up to do something. The calls for P&S are growing louder by the day.
  17. I don't have it in me to go searching for articles about them raping and torturing people right now. Maybe later. It can easily be found via Google search in the meantime though. Once again, I'm not making excuses for worldly people's behavior. I'm not sure in what language I need to explain that I find ALL of this revolting. I only said that I was not surprised while reading that some people chose to retaliate in this way. They also throw molotov cocktails and shoot at them too. I recently saw a video of a woman beating a bus with a bat and when a man tried to stop her from leaving, she attempted to run him over 3 times. Horrid, but again not surprising given the state of people in the world today. My apologies to everyone for lamenting on the fact that people are so depraved nowadays that very little is shocking anymore. Since I'm giving off vibes of not being neutral and making excuses for the behavior of worldly people, I will leave you all in peace to enjoy this thread.
  18. It's only April 4th, so that is more than one month longer for these poor people to suffer. 😭 You are right though. He lies to a point of pure gaslighting, so there is no telling what will happen. How would anyone know on which date they will win or lose a war? Does this even make sense? Thank you dear sister @hatcheckgirlfor putting into words what I can not. The way that people are behaving like animals these days, it's just very upsetting.
  19. If I'm some of the members here, I'll be happy to clarify. I don't wish for anything other than the end to come so this nonsense would stop. An end to the war would do for now, but obviously that's not happening. I'm sure details of who killed and maimed who could be pieced together through other sources, but the one that I was responding to was an article about Ukranians poisoning Russians. It's located a couple of comments above mine. My point was that I can't say for sure what I would have done (as a non-witness in the world) if I was sitting there minding my business when a bunch of armed men who have been raping and killing people burst into my neighborhood with an intent to do the same to my family. You'd be surprised what adrenaline can make you do when your mind has not been made over by teachings from the Bible. The fact of the matter is that people these days attack people for cutting them off on a highway, during arguments, even for the fun of it. So why exactly should it be surprising that there would be a reaction like this to people storming their neighborhoods with guns and explosive devices? If anyone would like to discuss my perceived lack of neutrality, please shoot me a p.m. so we don't derail the thread.
  20. I have accidentally run into ugly photos of mass graves and bodies laying around while browsing news sites. Is there no bottom to this? I truly hope that Putin does not drag this out for another month. As far as poison pastries go, I'm not surprised. Russians have entered their neighborhoods to rape, kill, torture, or whatever else. They are doing what they feel they must do to protect themselves. If in the world with no hope at all, I honestly could not say what I would or would not do, especially when it comes to protecting my children.
  21. GENEVA (AP) — The former chief prosecutor of United Nations war crimes tribunals for the former Yugoslavia and Rwanda has called for an international arrest warrant to be issued for Russian President Vladimir Putin. “Putin is a war criminal,” Carla Del Ponte told the Swiss newspaper Le Temps in an interview published Saturday. https://www.yahoo.com/news/ex-icc-prosecutor-urges-global-133143045.html Seems that quite a few people are calling Putin a criminal. What would happen if he was arrested? What are the chances of this actually happening?
  22. I don't know where to put this. Since we are now talking about shameless weath of BTG, and the Pope has inserted himself into this conflict, I guess it's okay here. Worshippers donated to these people, they tried to invest, then went on to lose hundreds of millions of dollars. They seem to be operating like any other business, except for the fact that their funding comes from tax-free donations gifted by people who think they are doing something for God. They also have the luxury of being greedy and sloppy, while normal business owners have to be careful so they can afford their huge tax bills and still have money to invest. I remember a WT article questioning whether their wealth would be used as a reason to justify the destruction.. which would be hilarious when it comes to Russia. "Here is a 100 ft yacht. Enjoy! "Nevermind, give that back along with your fancy railroad car." 🤣🤣 https://news.yahoo.com/pope-approved-payment-vatican-exit-193313588.html
  23. You just reminded me of a party I had. There were a group of us who gathered around the counter to do a shot. Glass didn't hit the table before I saw an elder walking over, so of course I was sitting there like oh boy, what did we do? "You just did that all wrong. It’s salt first, shot, THEN lime. Here, let me show you." 🤣🤣🤣 I'd give all of this up and then some to not gain 14lbs.
  24. The Pope invited bishops, priests and ordinary faithful around the world to join him in the consecration prayer, which he did yesterday. "Therefore, Mother of God and our Mother, to your Immaculate Heart we solemnly entrust and consecrate ourselves, the Church and all humanity, especially Russia and Ukraine.” It adds: “Grant that war may end and peace spread throughout the world.” Soon after Francis announced his plans to hold the consecration prayer, Patriarch Kirill said he was inviting the Russian Orthodox to direct prayers to the Mother of God, too. Kirill has called for peace, but he has also seemingly justified the invasion by invoking Russia and Ukraine as “one people” and describing the conflict as a “metaphysical” battle. As always the slave is right on time. If people would only read that new article posted and reason this out. https://www.yahoo.com/news/popes-peace-prayer-ukraine-recalls-113740080.html
  25. 1. True. It's possible that I may care and try to avoid more than some others because I know myself. I'm a mind your business type of person, so when people get in mine I get really annoyed. I don't want to look at my spiritual fam that way, so I find it's easier to avoid certain things than to try to control my feelings (and mouth) later. 2. True! We are not supposed to, but there is something within people right now that just really makes them want to do this. I remember being in a car group one day hearing so much of other people's business that I tried to change the topic. They answered my question and went straight back into their conversation. People probably don't realize they are doing it. 3. There honestly is nothing wrong with two adults conversing. It's great! It's weird how it varies between congregations and areas. In mine, there is nothing to do but to worry about who is talking to who. Even worrying about if someone went on a date who chaperoned. 😅 What's funny is when I visit the Spanish congregation right in this area, people greet with a kiss, everyone talks, no one cares. What can we do? Try to tolerate the imperfections of others, I suppose. And for me, switch to Spanish. 😂
