Thank you for your reply, Lucy. Perhaps you are correct and simple semantics being interjected. I also think it’s important that coronavirus is a genetic term that includes a family of viruses CDC. So basically, SARS-CoV-2 is the virus that can cause COVID-19 disease. In the case of HIV and AIDS, HIV is the virus that causes AIDS and Rubeola is the virus that causes Measles disease. People often know the name of the disease and not the virus. In the case of COVID-19 folks tend to call it by the name of the virus.

Hello Lucy. Looks as though we seem to be saying the same thing. The disease caused by SARS-CoV-2 is called COVID-19", according to LiveScience Magazine. "COVID is short for coronavirus disease" and 19 is the year it was discovered. I'm not here to argue with anyone. I simply made an innocent comment in an attempt to be part of this discussion. Many of us here also have family members in the medical profession.

Just as Brother David stated COVID-19 is also known as SARS-CoV-2. 2002 China SARS-CoV-1 and 2019 China SARS CoV-2 a/k/a COVID-19 (just like Middle East MERS) all originated from a horseshoe bat genome but each virus includes pathogens from a different (or crossed) species. In other words - in MERS bat bit the camel - in SARS-CoV-1 bat bit the masked civet - and in SARS-CoV-2 bat bit the snake or Pangolin and some how jumped from animals to humans, according to scientists. In the case of SARS CoV-2 (or COVID-19) humans ate an infected snake (a delicacy in Whuhan) or in the case of MERS direct contact with camels. All these are known Coronaviruses, among four others. It's very difficult to put any faith at all into any Media reports these days when they all report the deaths of Coronavirus(es). There are seven strains of Coronaviruses which had been killing folks way before the novel 2019 COVID-19 was even discovered. Seems CDC is lumping all type Coronaviruses together and not specifying which deaths were specifically attributed to the novel COVID-19 virus.

Yes, agreed, to some extent but "social integrity" could be considered mysterious and vague depending on the scientist defining the term. Term/statement can also infer to those without "good looks and talent." The comment by group of scientists in the article just seems a bit morbid. On a separate note, in his book "Ends of Human Life" by Ezekiel Emanuel (once a medical advisor to a U.S. president), makes points why those "not sapient" should be allowed to die. Who really is to say who is sapient and whose is not? Dr. Emanuel, who also lectures on science policy, in his book went further by promoting the idea that age 75 should be the cutoff. Wondering how he would really feel at age 75; he's now 62. My JW father is 81 and his two sisters, 83 (also JW) and 85, remain in fairly good health and enjoying life. Even Environmentalists, "an important need of the hour" they say, are on the the population control bandwagon all in the name of climate change and saving the planet. All this population control rhetoric just drives some of us batty.

Russia has systematically declared war on Jehovah’s Witnesses, including non-Orthodox minorities in general. While true that other minorities are targets, the police and the judiciary have been specifically harassing our Brothers for months on end - years - all over Russia. The fear is intensifying that all preaching work may be forbidden in Russia soon. It's understood prophetically they will be the targets at the very end, but here they seem to be a priority target above all others. Sickening! Our brothers seem the most resistant minorities in the country. Justice Scalia often had a tendency to rule on issues from the bench by interpreting the Constitutional language based on the "original meaning" or rather he interpreted the Constitution's legal terms based on the time it was written - very cut and dry. He did not attempt to change the original legal terms of the Constitution unlike various other justices who claim the Constitutional terms had/have "evolved" and needed a new "interpretation." He was well-known, highly admired and respected by many for having stuck to the original interpretation when legislating. Other Justices suggested that the U.S. Constitution should be abolished and a new one implemented, such as the one used by Africa. Scalia found this appalling. Whether or not some might consider him conservative, neo-conservative, Libertarian . . . or whatever I don't think matters. He was well-respected not only for his approach to legislating but for also attempting to remove power from the hands of Justices . One of the things I remember him saying, and I do not recall which issue he had to rule on (perhaps it was the gay marriage debate), but stated that he didn't think that "nine non-lawyers" should have to rule on an issue he felt did not need to be legislated. He just did not believe the Justices should have that type of power.

The earlier comments by folks alleging Lubtiz was a recent Islamic convert claimed it was directly related to his six-month absence from pilot training and his Muslim girlfriend. But, those claims have not been substantiated. While various German websites are the ones asserting he was a recent convert, they aren't providing any credible sources and nothing has been made public (that I have read) to support those allegations. The Daily Mail reported that the investigators had made a significant discovery at Libitz's home but are refusing to reveal the details. Daily Mail also announced that investigators did not find a suicide note. Seems something more sinister is behind this personally motivated tragic event.
