My computer says windows 7 but it must be 8...I don't know for sure.

If it says windows 7,why do you think it's 8? :P

When you press the windows key (the key with an icon of Microsoft Windows on it) does it go to a screen like this?

Looks like Windows 7 to me.

I would wait until the disk check is finished and then try the system restore.

Try Internet Explorer after the disk check is finished and before you try the restore. The disk check might replace the corrupt system files.

I think we should sell this whole subject as a comedy skit. It is so funny.

Not the problems, just the dialogue. Sorry Gabe and Nancy for the trouble you are having. When my computer is not acting exactly how I want it too I go crazy.

I don't know........

Hit the "start" button and view the program list.

Click on "accessories"

Then, right-click on the command prompt and choose "Run as administrator"

When the black command windows opens, type in:

 chkdsk C: /F

Just exactly like that spaces and all and press enter.

If it tells you to reboot, do it, but I don't think it will.

Once the disk check is running, do not stop it or shut down the computer. Since we are telling it to fix any errors it finds, it might take a long time to run. Just let it go.

When it finishes, type in "exit" to close the command prompt.

Then, reboot the system and see if Internet Explorer works then and it it doesn't, try a system restore.
