JW.org video issue on my Chrome browser

Hi,

I have a new computer, running Win 8. Yesterday I noticed an issue with the videos on jw.org using Chrome: the audio plays but not the video. Let me repeat: the audio portion of the video plays, just not the video portion.

• Videos play on other sites like YouTube, just not on jw.org.
• IE plays the videos.
• I cleared Chrome's cache but that did nothing.

My Win 7 laptop and iPhone play the jw.org videos fine on their Chrome browsers. I'm pretty sure my Win 8 Chrome browser played jw.org videos before. 

 

Any thoughts on how to proceed?

I'm not sure if it is the same with Windows 8, but in Windows seven, I once had this issue and uninstalling Adobe Flash player and re-installing it again, fixed it.

Thanks. I noticed the same problem at my Win 7 work computer. I uninstalled Adobe Flash player and reinstalled it, but the problem persists.

When you go to the Adobe shock player site and click on "test" shock player, doe the little video play?

No, and it automatically downloads "dir.dcr". But when I click on "Test your Adobe Flash Player installation" then I see a video.

If your flash player is working, then I'm not sure what else it could be, sorry.

Maybe jw.org doesn't use flash but html5 (flash is no longer officialy supported on mobile)

Go to Chrome settings and check if there's any option relating to html5 activation...

Last case scenario uninstall chrome and install again, maybe that works...

I have the same problem with my win 7 machine using chrome with it's latest update but not with my tablet or my phone using chrome. I also tried all of the suggestions mentioned in the forum with no positive results.

Yea!!!!!!!!!!! Today, along with 14 windows updates the Chrome browser now plays the jw.org videos as well as the audio like they should on my win 7 desktop.
