Wowzer. Strong words. That's... very strong. As I always say... it doesn't necessarily mean anything. But those four winds must be dying to 'splode. Oh boy! Day after day the world is just in chaos.

Hahaha, it looks to me another reason to not believe man's ability to bring peace. Why? "To the gates of h***" eh? Well, how could that be and happen when there is no gates of h*** at least in the manner they're referring to. Sooo, since there aren't any, exactly what is it they're going to do? Nothing! Because they can't.

Amazing how all these politicians bring religion into their speeches and yet, if they would read their bibles - even once = they might see that being a politician in itself is contrary to God's Word! He should of said (in accord with what the Bible says "To the gates of the abyss"!

Why is everyone using symbols for the word Hell? Its a modern word for representing an ancient one. Its not like its swearing. We are not prudes in this organisation.

I think some are concerned about the conscience's of others, that's all Greg. Some may be uncomfortable using it because they never use it otherwise also. It's just a conscience thing. I'll say it if it makes you feel better - Hell - O!

Hey... we don't' have talks and articles on being offended and letting things go for no reason. It leads me to believe it's best be safe then sorry. Plus this is a public thread... I'd rather not give anyone the wrong impression if they're attempting to join or something else.

The publications, and even WT covers, prominently discuss the uncensored word, so apparently there are very few people who would be stumbled by seeing the "hockey sticks" in the proper context.

Of course we would rightly refrain from using it as a substitute curse word (and censor any textual occurrences of such), but that only means we'd refrain from using it in as we would a curse, just as we refrain from using "God", "Jesus", or "Christ" as a curse-substitute exclamation.

I know a 3rd party contact for an employer I work at that uses the word hockey stick in longer form to swear with. Never even knew what he meant until I looked it up, But yeah its a substitute word.

I was at the bookstudy when a brother was reading from the babylon the great book. He read about the bloody record of christendom, when a shocked young sister called out "mum he swore"

Interesting comments by Rear Adm. John Kirby, a Pentagon spokesman regarding ISIS:

" We're not just simply about degrading and destroying ... the 20 to 30,000 (ISIS fighters). It's about degrading and destroying their capabilities to attack targets, particularly Western targets. It's about destroying their ideology."

"It is going to require partners on the ground to take back and hold the territory that this group has tried to obtain and maintain. It is also going to take the ultimate destruction of their ideology,"

MY thoughts:

One just wonders ... how they will destroy IDEOLOGY ?????? :o :o :o

To destroy ideology there is no better way then ultimately ban religion

Also ISIS and religion are on the agenda for upcoming UN seating later in September

Whole article here: http://edition.cnn.com/2014/09/12/world/meast/isis-numbers/index.html?hpt=hp_c1

Very interesting times we are living in .... :backflip:

Just heard on the radio that the Syrian rebel army and ISIS now have a truce! So much for Obama's plan to arm the rebel army so they can fight ISIS on the ground! LOL This just gets better and better! All these countries are saying they have to do something about ISIS but no one is doing anything and the one plan they had is now thwarted!

At least the truce came before the US armed the Syrian rebels with heavy military weapons, I can only imagine the international outcry (and likely war) if the US ended up indirectly handing those weapons to ISIS.

And before anyone gets the wrong idea, I'm not for or against any particular military, government, or "peace" plan, I'm just glad that this latest killing-spree hasn't (yet) been given the tools to escalate their war and kill people even more efficiently.

They were just saying tonight on the news that leaders from around the world are coming to Tampa Florida tomorrow to review their information gathered to go forward with the execution of plans...no word here on any truce deal. I really could not imagine they would allow them to say they give up after executing the Americans in public like they did...not normal policy to allow a deal afterwards...but if they did maybe they could yell, peace and security...we have fixed the problem...

I thought of this too Stavro - since ISIS gets all it's weapons from other regimes it overtakes, can you imagine the carnage if the U.S. and other nations sent the weapons to the rebels they promised and then ISIS took them because of the truce?!!! I wonder if this "truce" was supposed to be kept secret until weapons were actually sent - only time will tell. Can't even begin to imagine how this all will turn out! I only know it will turn out the way Jehovah purposed it to!

That's not actually correct brother. The USA has been arming what it euphemistically calls 'moderate' rebels for some years now. Those rebels included ISIS. Even when the US hasn't been arming them directly they've still armed them covertly via US proxys such as Saudi Arabia, Israel or Qatar.

The USA aided, trained and abetted these 'rebels' as it was hoping to use them to depose Assad in Syria. This has since back fired of course as those 'rebels' have now created their own unrecognized caliphate/state using the same weapons and armory supplied to them by the USA. This unfortunately and for obvious reasons isn't something the mainstream press chooses to cover as ISIS is positively a USA creation as part of US domestic/foreign policy in the M.E.
